Phenotypic virulence characterization

The objective of this study was to investigate the beneficial, virulence, and antibiotic resistance-related genes in 10 well-characterized bacteriocinogenic LAB strains. The autoaggregation, co-aggregation, cell surface hydrophobicity, and bile salt tolerance were also evaluated to examine their potential as bacteriocinogenic probiotics and/or starter culture. Results showed that all tested strains showed abilities for auto-aggregation at 4oC and 37oC, co-aggregation with S. aureus JCM8704, S. typhimurium BIOTECH1826, and E. coli DH5α, and significant cell-surface hydrophobicity.

Pasteurella species are often encountered in small ruminants as major pathogens in respiratory illnesses resulting in heavy losses. Present study was aimed towards finding out the occurrence of Pasteurella spp. in small ruminants as respiratory pathogen and detection of virulence in them by phenotypic and genotypic characterization.

Among the fungal diseases in rice plants, brown spot disease caused by (Bipolaris oryzae) and sheath rot disease caused by (Sarocladium oryzae) are considered as serious threats in rice cultivation in India. Rice plant samples showing the brown spot and sheath rot disease were collected from different places.
