Soil represents one of the most diverse habitats for more than a thousand million bacterial species present on the earth. The maintenance of soil quality, fertility and structure is essential for the protection of the biodiversity and integrity of terrestrial ecosystems. Introduction of anthropogenic chemicals into soil may have lasting effects on soil microbial activities and thus soil health. Chlorpyrifos is a broad spectrum organo phosphorus insecticide, displaying insecticidal activity against a wide range of insects and other arthropod pests.

Banana is a highly exhaustive crop which requires large quantities of mineral nutrients for rapid growth and development, thus it readily responds to applied nutrients. Major nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium play an important role in the vegetative and reproductive phases of crop growth, depending on the cultivar.

Study was conducted to evaluate soil fertility status in the four different tasar growing regions in Banka District of Bihar and Dumka District of Jharkhand. A total of 75 surface soil samples (0-30 cm) were collected from the fields of primary tasar food plants (Terminalia arjuna and T. tomentosa) along with the details regarding farmer’s name, land type, fertilizer details, geo location, etc. The collected samples were air dried, sieved and analyzed for various soil fertility parameters such as pH, EC, organic carbon, macro and micro nutrients etc.

From the experimental results emanated from first crop of okra, among the Municipal Solid Waste Compost (MSWC) treatments application of 100% Rec. NK + FMSWC with poultry manure 10% (9:1) at 5 t ha-1 along with phosphorus (M4P1) recorded lowest Pb, Ni and Cd contents at harvest stage in soil which was on par with the treatment, 100% Rec. NK + FMSWC with SSP at 5 t ha-1 along with phosphorus (M7P1) which was significantly lower than that of other treatments with FMSWC at higher doses. Onion crop was raised as succeeding crop to study the residual effect of municipal solid waste compost.

Pulses occupy unique place in Indian diet with supplying of vegetable protein to primarily starchy diet and provide an essential supplement for balance diet. Therefore, it is essential to increase the sustainable productivity with more appropriate management of nutrient utilization of plants so that with same area, we can increase pulses sustainable production.

An On- farm trial were conducted during Rabi season of 2015-16 and 2016- 17 at farmers field on pre-selected seven locations in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar considering farmers as replication to assess the efficacy of biofertilizers on yield and economics of potato. The results revealed that nutrient management of biofertilizer has statistically significant impact on tuber yield and economics as well as soil fertility status. The highest tuber yield (22.65 and 23.

Preparation of compost enriched with rock phosphate may be considered as a suitable option for utilizing the reserves of low-grade rock phosphate for enhancing the phosphorus use efficiency of crops. This research was carried out to study the effect of combined inoculation of mycorrhiza and selected rhizobacteria on soil nutrients and P uptake by rice. The experiment was conducted in Randomized Block Design with 10 treatments having three replications.
