In this study, the effects of LED light wavelengths blue and red on both photosynthetic performance and morphology of Gerbera jamesonii plantlets was investigated. The results showed the photosynthesis efficiency via the photo-pigment system and mediated regulation of rubisco activase encoding gene (RCA) mechanism was significantly enhanced by blue light.

We derived a protein hydrolysate with rich content, which includes proteinogenic and nonproteinogenic amino acids, from chicken feathers by using an alkaline hydrolysis procedure with high yield success. After foliar application of aqueous solutions (0.05%, 0.075%, and 0.1%) of chicken feather protein hydrolysate (CFPH) to the seedlings of wheat (Triticum aestivum L. ‘Altındane’ and ‘Bezostaya’), their effects were evaluated on important physiological and biochemical parameters.

Soil salinity threatens the yield and food security worldwide and use of halophytes might be a valid option to cope with devastating salinity effects. The present investigation was accomplished to evaluate the role of glycine betaine (GB) as presowing seed treatment on growth parameters, photosynthetic pigments, gas exchange attributes, enzymatic antioxidants, lipid peroxidation (MDA), hydrogen peroxide (H2 O2 ), endogenous GB, total soluble proteins (TSP), and yield in quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa) under saline conditions.

The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of high temperature stress (HT) and to evaluate the protective role of fungicide pretreatment against HT stress in tomato leaves. The oxidative stress was triggered under HT stress through an increase in the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Also, it caused a decline in photosynthetic pigments and enhanced the proline in tomato. However, the activities of catalase (CAT; EC 1.11.1.6), peroxidase (POX; EC 1.11.1.7), and glutathione S-transferase (GST; EC.2.5.1.

A pot experiment was conducted in a net house to evaluate the effects of drought stress (a 20-day water withholding treatment from 100- 120 days after planting) on the growth and physiology of five sugarcane cultivars. The results showed that water stress at an early stage significantly affected sugarcane growth and physiology.

Application of exogenous glycine betaine (GB) and exogenous salicylic acid (SA) mitigates the adverse effects of salinity. Foliar spraying with exogenous GB or SA alleviates salt stress in plants by increasing leaf gas exchange and stimulating antioxidant enzyme activity.

Although our knowledge about diatom photosynthesis has made huge progress over the last years, many aspects about their photosynthetic apparatus are still enigmatic. According to published data, the spatial organization as well as the biochemical composition of diatom thylakoid membranes is significantly different from that of higher plants.

Paclobutrazol acts as stress protectant by maintaining relative water content, membrane stability index, photosynthetic activity, photosynthetic pigments and protects the photosynthetic macinery by enhancing the level of osmolytes, antioxidant activities and level of endogenous hormones and thereby enhances the yield (Soumya et al., 2017).

Effect of kind and concentration of culture media, and plant growth regulators on in vitro response was studied in an economically important seaweed species viz. Gracilaria corticata var. cylindrica. Filter sterilized autoclaved artificial seawater medium at 100 % concentration (A2) was found to be the most optimum for in vitro culture as the cultured explants showed superiority in terms of growth and photosynthetic pigment content, apart from inducing lateral bud formation.

The study indicated that the PPFM and PGRs could be effectively improving drought tolerance capacity of tomato crop under drought. Among the PGRs and different concentrations of PPFM used, PPFM (2%) was found to superior in improving RWC, photosynthetic rate, SPAD value and proline content. The anti oxidant enzyme, catalase activity was enhanced by PPFM (2%) and salicylic acid (100 ppm) treatments which has the ability to protect the plant under abiotic stress by nullifying oxidative damage.

Water deficit is one of the major abiotic stresses which adversely affect the crop growth and yield. Moisture stress induce the metabolic functions, such as reduced synthesis of photosynthetic pigments, accumulation of osmoprotectants like proline, decline in the Chlorophyll stability and alterations in physiological parameters. The Field experiment was conducted at Agricultural College and Research Institute, Madurai during summer season 2016 with the variety of SVPR - 4.

Cyanobacteria are photosynthetic microorganisms capable of producing high value pigments like phycoerythrin, phycocyanin, allophycocyanin, chlorophyll and carotenoids. These high value pigments have immense commercial value as they have applications in food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries. In the present study, using soil and water samples collected from different ecological niches of India, 10 isolates of heterocystous and 09 isolates of non- heterocystous cyanobacteria were obtained.

This study aimed to investigate the impact of integrated application of inorganic fertilizer (NPK) and farmyard manure (FYM) on soybean grain nutrient uptake and yield. We performed field experiments with treatments including 100% NPK, 150% NPK, 100% NPK+FYM and control (without fertilizer), and soil properties and plant parameters assessed. Greater effects on soil electric conductivity (EC), soil organic carbon (SOC), Soil N were recorded with treatments.
