In this study, we utilize the genome-wide singlenucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) data obtained through Multiplexed Inter Simple Sequence Repeat Genotyping by sequencing (MIG-seq) to explore the phylogenetic relationships among Quercus species in Vietnam. The results of this study reveal that all Quercus species in Vietnam belong to subgenus Cerris and the phylogenetic analysis strongly supports the recognition of two infrageneric sections: Quercus and Ilex section for the Vietnamese Quercus.

With the aim of inferring phylogenetic relationships among 86 species (including 45 species from Vietnam) mostly of the subfamily Convallarioideae (=Nolinoideae) (Asparagaceae sensu APG IV), we analyzed their chloroplast DNA sequences (rbcL and trnL-F) by both Bayesian inference (BI) and maximum likelihood (ML) methods. Our dataset included six of the seven tribes classified in this subfamily; Convallarieae, Dracaeneae, Liriopeae Nolineae, Polygonateae and Rusceae (Eriospermeae not examined).

This study, therefore, developed a game-based learning activity called the VERT card game to enhance students’ learning of the phylogenetic taxonomy of chordates. The VERT card game was designed to lay the foundation for different characteristics of chordate classes, as well as to allow students to construct and interpret their evolutionary relationships based on the phylogenetic tree.

The present study aims to identify Neofusicoccum isolates collected from lotus with symptoms of dieback, blight, and wilted leaves. Species were identified based on their morphology and comparison of the DNA sequence data for ITS rDNA and β-tubulin (tub-2). The taxonomy and phylogenetic relationships of pathogen isolates were investigated, and their pathogenic abilities were determined.

Ebook "Plant geography of Chile (Plant and Vegetation, Book 5)" provides a critical insight into evolutionary patterns, particularly in relation to the distribution along the latitudinal profiles and the global geographical relationships of the country’s genera. The consequences of these relations for the evolution of the Chilean Flora are discussed.

The study using molecular data from three DNA regions (matK, rbcL, and trnH-psbA) supported the monophyly of Melodinus. The M. cochinchinensis from Vietnam and China are closely related. There are some genetic variations in the sequences of Melodinus cochinchinensis from Belgium versus Asiatic M. cochinchinensis, as well as the phylogenetic position of the species, suggesting the possibility of misidentification of M. cochinchinensis from Belgium.

Echinostomiasis is a neglected disease caused by the intestinal flukes (family Echinostomatidae, suborder Echinostomata) and is common in communities in Asian countries, such as India, Indonesia, the Philippines, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, Japan, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. The genetic markers from the nuclear ribosomal transcription units are commonly used in genetic studies and phylogenetic analyses.

The present study, based on the molecular data of seven DNA regions supported the relationship within the genus Altingia. Three clades were recognized in this genus. The species A. excelsa from Lao Cai province of Vietnam was well supported as closely related to A. siamensis by molecular data, this result is congruent with morphology, and distribution.

The genus Sphagnum is one of the richest taxa among the Turkish bryophytes. Up to now, it has been represented by 27 taxa in six sections (Sphagnum, Acutifolia, Squarrosa, Subsecunda, Cuspidata, and Rigida). In this study, an identification key for the section Sphagnum was prepared, and the section was investigated using phylogenetic analyses, with a main focus on Turkish bryophytes. This study provides the first sequence data of the trnL intron region for five species of the section Sphagnum from Turkey (namely S. centrale, S. divinum, S. medium, S. palustre, and S.

In this paper, we show a detailed look at the barley XTH gene family, including detailed bioinformatics analyses of conserved protein motifs and structure, phylogenetic relationships, and a comparison of the expression patterns during germination and seedling growth using RT-qPCR and RNA-Seq analyses. Overall, there was a good correlation between RT-qPCR and RNA-Seq data for similar tissues. RNA-Seq data showed many different expression profile patterns, from broad, high level expression for some XTH genes to highly tissue specific patterns for others.

Wild coffee species are the reservoirs of genetic diversity and could play a critical role in the genetic improvement of coffee. However, the conservation and genetic assessment of wild coffee species has been largely neglected. In the present study, DNA barcoding approaches were employed to assess the phylogenetic relationships between five indigenous wild coffee species from India and compared with two cultivated, and four wild coffee species of African origin.

Peroxidases (PODs) have various physiological and biochemical roles in plant growth, development and stress response. The POD genes were identified in various plant species, but in passion fruit has not yet been thoroughly characterized. Here, we discovered 30 putative POD genes from the genome of Passiflora edulis Sims. For further elucidation, comprehensive bioinformatics analysis was utilized to determine the physicochemical properties, gene organization, conserved motifs, gene duplication and phylogenetic relationships of PePOD genes.

Grasslands in the Arctic tundra undergo irreversible degradation due to climatic changes and also over-exploitation and depletion of scarce resources. Comprehensive investigations of cytogenomic structures of valuable Arctic and sub-Arctic grassland species is essential for clarifying their genetic peculiarities and phylogenetic relationships, and also successful developing new forage grass cultivars with high levels of adaptation, stable productivity and longevity.

Kurniwan et al. (2010) specified the distribution of F. cancrivora to the south of the Isthmus of Kra and a large area in the North of the Isthmus of Kra, including Vietnam, is the distribution range of F. moodiei, but the samples analyzed in that study did not include samples collected from Vietnam. Based on the results of morphological and genetic analyses on two mitochondrial gene fragments (16S and Cytb) of populations of Fejervarya moodiei and F. cacrivora, this study confirmed that the Northern Crab-eating Frog F. moodiei distributed in Vietnam.
