Physiological tests

Clinical laboratory (lab) tests are used in clinical practice to diagnose, treat, and monitor disease conditions. Test results are stored in electronic health records (EHRs), and a growing number of EHRs are linked to patient DNA, offering unprecedented opportunities to query relationships between genetic risk for complex disease and quantitative physiological measurements collected on large populations.

While it is recognised that knitted fabrics may have their place in firefighting PPC, especially for undergarments, from the point of view of fire performance, strength and presentation, woven fabric constructions appear to be more suitable for work wear applications. Hence, this study is concerned with developing and testing a range of functional, woven Station Wear fabrics designed to enhance flame protection, durability and thermo-physiological comfort properties. Cyanobacterial blooms often consist of mixtures of microcystin-producing and microcystin-free species, and both can cause unpredictable effects on aquatic organisms. In this work, the subchronic effects of the cyanobacterial crude extracts (CCEs) from microcystin-producing and microcystin-free cyanobacteria with different microcystin concentrations (1, 10, and 50 µgL−1)on Daphnia magna were investigated. The life-history trait responses of D. magna to CCEs were determined based on survival, reproduction, and somatic growth.

Hydropriming has the potential to ameliorate the stress-induced ill effects on yields of the crop plants and quality of seed produced. In the present study, half of the fresh seeds of maize hybrid, PEHM 5 and its parental lines (Female - CM 150, Male - CM 151) were subjected to accelerated aging test for bringing down the viability and vigour, thereby creating low vigour lots while high vigour lots consisted of fresh seeds, which were hydroprimed (30 h at 25°C). Half of the hydroprimed seeds were surface dried while the other half were redried back to the original moisture contents.

: The main goal of this work was to relate the germinative ecology and genetic variability of Chaerolhyllum aureum L., an Apiaceae plant with dormant, underdeveloped embryos at the time of seed dispersal. We compared the seed germination physiology traits between a relictic geographically isolated Mediterranean population (Iberian System; central Spain) and a population located in the main, colder Atlantic Alpine core (Pyrenees; northern Spain). We analyzed both populations’ genetic identity in parallel on the basis of ISSR–PCR analyses.
