his paper investigates the nonlinear vibration of imperfect smart sandwich plate which consists of an auxetic graphene reinforced metal matrix composite (GRRMC) core layer integrated with two magneto-electro-elastic face sheets. The Poisson’s ratio of the GRMMC core is negative while the material properties of magneto-electro-elastic face sheets depend on the volume fraction of piezoelectric and piezomagnetic phases.

In the paper "Thermal buckling of P-FGM sandwich beam with porous core on elastic foundation", a coupled effect of thermal and electrical loadings on the thermal buckling behavior of functionally graded material (FGM) sandwich beam resting on Pasternak foundation is investigated. The symmetric multi-layered beam consists of a foam core, two middle FGM layers, and two outer piezoelectric layers. It is assumed that the beam is subjected to a constant voltage and a uniform/linear temperature rise.

Approaching to this direction, the paper reports on the micro-fabrication and characterization of free-standing doubly clamped piezoelectric beams based on heterostructures of Pd/ FeNi/Pd/PZT/LSMO/STO/Si. The displacement of strings is investigated in both static and dynamic mode.

In this study, we describe the operation of piezoelectric energy converters and electromechanical modeling of piezoelectric energy harvesting (PEH) devices based on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) for low-power sensors. Consideration is given to a piezoelectric energy harvester based on standard MEMS. The parameters are determined and optimized using a simple MEMS cantilever model.

This Master's thesis aims to document the research process into the synthesis of 2D AlPO4 via a liquid metal synthesis pathway. The synthesised 2D AlPO4 will then undergo qualitative and structural analysis, after which it will be characterised via advanced techniques to determine piezoelectric characteristics, as well as the exploration of the ability of the synthesised material to absorb heavy metals.

The recent advances in the study of the unique capabilities of monolayer crystals had predicted piezoelectricity in two-dimensional (2D) group IV chalcogenides which are not present in their bulk forms. In this study, the predicted piezoelectric properties of was experimentally explored through Piezoelectric Force Microscopy (PFM). Tin Sulfide (SnS), Tin Selenide (SnSe), Germanium Sulfide (GeS), were exfoliated from their bulk forms by the top down methods of liquid sonication, while and Tin Disulfide (SnS2) mechanically exfoliated by tape.

Silicon (Si) containing materials cannot be used in commercial lithium ion batteries due to the mechanical stress problem triggered by volume expansion during cycling. The high-volume change causes mechanical instability of Si anode materials during charging/discharging, resulting fast capacity fading. It is thought that piezoelectric materials can be a solution for the volume expansion problem because of their ability to generate electric field when pressure is applied on them.

This paper presents an investigation on the performance of ZnO nanorod (ZNR)-based piezoelectric nanogenerators (PENGs). ZNRs on the ZnO seed layer coated double-sided flexible polyethylene terephthalate (PET) at different molar concentrations (0.01, 0.05 and 0.1 M) were synthesized by controlling the aspect ratio (length/diameter) of ZNRs, that are closely related to the piezoelectric output potential voltage using a simple hydrothermal method.
