The variety notification proposal has been submitted to the PPV & FRA with DNA finger printing profile for approval (Bapu et al., 2017). This variety is observed with PSMV infection in a field experiment during 2017 at AC&RI, Coimbatore and during 2020 in a FrontLine Demonstration on moisture conservation practices in Redgram conducted in a farmers‟ field, Kutaldampatti, Madurai.

In present investigation methods of transmission and use of acaricides, four methods used for the transmission of sterility mosaic disease namely seed, sap, dodder and mite (Aceria cajani) transmission. The virus was readily transmissible by mites but not by sap, seed or through dodder.

Sterility mosaic disease (SMD) is one of the major biotic problems for pigeonpea production in the Indian subcontinent. A systematic survey and comprehensive study was carried out to determine the incidence of Pigeonpea sterility mosaic virus (PPSMV) and molecular variability among disease causing agents in Tamil Nadu state of southern India during the 2019 Kharif season.
