Staphyloxanthin (STX) is a carotenoid pigment produced by Staphylococcus aureus to protect the bacteria from oxidation stress. Eliminating Staphyloxanthin from S. aureus cell membrane by inducing the pigment photolysis using 460nm light, then killing weakened bacteria with an H2O2 solution could be a new approach to develop anti - Staphylococcus aureus procedure.

Color perception is important for fish to survive and reproduce in nature. Visual pigments in the retinal photoreceptor cells are responsible for receiving light stimuli, but the function of the pigments in vivo has not been directly investigated in many animals due to the lack of color-blind lines and appropriate color-perception tests.

Cost-efficient production of pullulan is of great importance but remains challenging due largely to the high-cost carbon sources. Lignocellulosic biomass is considered an alternative carbon source for industrial pullulan production, while new fungus producers that co-utilizing lignocellulose-derived glucose and xylose are required.

Brevibacterium strains are widely used for the manufacturing of surface-ripened cheeses, contributing to the breakdown of lipids and proteins and producing volatile sulfur compounds and red-orange pigments. The objective of the present study was to perform comparative genomic analyses in order to better understand the mechanisms involved in their ability to grow on the cheese surface and the differences between the strains.

Pigments are the chemical substances that absorb the light of visible region. Pigments are compounds that are widely used in industries. Non-toxic nature of pigment produced by a number of microorganisms make them ecofriendly for utilization in dye, foodstuff, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and other industrial purpose. Industrial production of natural food colorants by microbial fermentation has several advantages such as cheaper production, easier extraction, higher yields through strain improvements, no lack of raw materials and season independent.

In cultural characteristics six characters like colony colour, colony diameter, pigmentation, margin type, growth pattern and aerial hyphae were recorded. Maximum radial growth i.e. 90 mm was given by isolate Rb-07 of Sabalpur village followed by Rb-02 and Rb-12. Least radial growth of 45 mm was given by Rb-03 isolate of Nandpur village. Pigmentation was also observed in four isolates. Aerial hyphae were produced by six isolates.

One of the most important factors for carotenoids production is salt; it is therefore important to evaluate the influence of this element on the growth and the capacity of the microalgal cells to the accumulation of carotenoids. The purpose of this investigation is to evaluate cell growth and carotenoids production in native Moroccan strains of Dunaliella spp. under laboratory conditions in the presence of a salt stress regime and their ability to produce large cellular and pigment biomass. This can be a source of antioxidant compounds.

In the present study, 8 Actinomycetes were isolates from rhizospheric soil from Karanja (Lad) District wahism. Out of 8 Actinomycetes isolates, two isolates was found to be sensitive against all isolates and shows very excellent zone of inhibition. Antagonastic activity against human pathogens like, S. aureus, E. coli, P. aeruginosa and P. vulgaris, was also carried out. From the complete observation it was noticed that isolate N obtained from neem soil and H from Hibiscus soil is having excellent antagonistic activity in controlling all the test pathogens.

Microorganisms produce certain commercially important secondary metabolites like antibiotics, carotenoid pigments, toxins and so on, some of which are of commercial importance. Carotenoid is a group of pigment and its production is a natural phenomenon in case of certain microorganisms. Yeast is a unicellular eukaryotic organism occurring in soil, air, feed and fodder of dairy farm environment. Among yeast, Rhodotorula sp. produces both extra and intracellular carotenoid pigments.

Phomopsis vexans affected stem and fruit of brinjal crop collected from the field and isolated on potato dextrose agar (PDA) produced white cottony growth, sub-aerial mycelial, circular shaped colony with indistinct zonation and good sporulation. Pigmentation is yellow to dark brown colour. Pycnidia formation takes place after 18 to 20 days which are dark brown in colour and scattered distribution on the media surface.

Cultural, morphological and molecular characteristics of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ciceri, eight isolates indicated a great variability amongst them. However, the isolate FOC-2 (Jalna) exhibited maximum mycelial growth of 90.00 mm. The isolates viz., Jalna (FOC-2) and Beed (FOC-3) produced partially submerged (FOC-2) to submerged (FOC-3) white sparse dense growth with smooth margin and bright white substrate pigmentation. Maximum micro-conidial, macro-conidial and chlamydospore size (17.20 µm, 30.50 x 7.00 µm and 21.80 x 19.60 µm) was recorded in isolate Jalna (FOC-2).

Endophytic nonrhizobial bacteria, Chryseobacterium indologenes, Endophytic non rhizobial bacterial stain AM2 was isolated from root nodules of Vigna radiate. The bacterium was Gram-negative, yellow pigmented, nonspore forming, motile and oxidase positive. Phylogeny of 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that the strain belonged to the genus Chryseobacterium, a member of family Flavobacteriaceae.

A novel bacterium SA13A was isolated from tannery effluent. Its morphology, physiology and 16S rRNA gene sequence were characterized. Bacterium SA13A was found to be gram negative, rod shaped and produces yellowish pigment on nutrient agar plates. The 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity indicated that isolate SA13A is associated with genus Luteimonas (99%).

Objective of the study is to enhance the productivity of pigmented compound of Streptomyces flavofuscus ARITM02 by optimizing its physiological conditions. Streptomyces flavofuscus ARITM02 was screened for its pigment producing ability. In order to improve its efficiency, the effects of various physiological conditions like, temperature, pH, incubation time, carbon and nitrogen sources were optimized and its productivity was examined by optical density measurement from UV-Vis spectrophotometer.
