Cotton is an essential fiber producing crop in the world. It also supports additional industries by providing high quality oil and protein in the form of cottonseed cake. Currently, there is an urgent need to increase lint yield, fiber quality, and resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses due to rising pressure from a global population and possible supply shortages from the effects of erratic climate changes. Classic plant breeding and transgenic strategies need more genetic breakthroughs to support the increasing pressure for fiber quantity and quality.

Piper betle L., (family- Piperaceae) commonly known as the betel vine is an important medicinal and recreational plant in Southeast Asia. Betel vine is a dioecious, evergreen, perennial creeper with glossy heart shaped leaves. The present study was executed to identify the suitable integrated nitrogen management on leaf yield, quality and economy of betel vine (Piper betle L.) cultivars in new alluvial zone of West Bengal. The field experiment was conducted at Horticulture Research Station, Mondouri, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Nadia, West Bengal during the 2017-2018.

A replicated pot culture experiment was conducted to study the comparative efficacy of different oil cakes on management of root knot nematode (Meloidogyne incognita) infecting tomato. The results revealed that barring the untreated check, all other treatments significantly increased the plant growth parameters, total chlorophyll content and reduced root knot nematode population as well as number of galls.

Field experiment was conducted during rabi-2018 at Research Institute of Organic Farming field unit, UAS, GKVK, Bengaluru to study the different sources of organic phosphorus and PSB on growth, seed yield and essential oil content in coriander laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with 10 treatments replicated thrice and the variety used was Co Cr-4. Results of the experiment revealed that phosphorus at 40 kg ha-1 applied through neem cake + PSB at 2 kg ha-1 recorded significantly higher seed yield (665 kg ha-1 ) and essential oil yield (4.72 kg ha-1 ).

A field experiment was conducted at the instructional farm of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Jajpur, Odisha during 2015 to study the “Effect of integrated nutrient management on growth, yield and quality of okra”, variety-Pusa A4. From the experiment it was observed that application of RDF (75%) + (25%) N through neem oil cake (T7 ) produced maximum plant height (131.40 cm), internode length (8.02cm), fruit length (11.96cm), maximum number of fruits per plant (14.42), individual fruit weight (14.89g), yield per plot (13.29kg), Yield per ha. (9.49 ton) where RDF was 110:50:80 NPK kg/ha.

Groundnut is a major legume and important oil seed crop belongs to family Fabaceae. A large number of diseases attack groundnut plant in India, of these stem rot caused by Sclerotium rolfsii is the most common disease. The present study was conducted in experimental field of SHUATS for management of stem rot disease of groundnut (Sclerotium rolfsii) which is most important destructive disease of groundnut in India. Therefore present studies were undertaken to test Trichoderma viride, Neem cake, vermicompost and the combinations along with the treated check (Vitavax).

From ancient time (over 5000 years) oil crops like Sesame, Brassica, Olea europaea, etc. have given importance for their nutritional, medicinal and food products properties. One of important oil crop belonging to Pedaliaceae family is Sesamum indicum L., is an annual plant and being neglected because of many reasons. India and China are the world’s largest producers of Sesame, The oil content of Sesame seed varies from 28% to 59%. Sesame oil serve as natural sources of antioxidants i.e. lignans which improves flavor and taste and contributes to greater shelf-life of foods.

Soil-borne plant pathogenic fungi cause heavy crop losses all over the world. With variable climate from region to region, most crops grown in India are susceptible to diseases caused by soil-borne fungal pathogens. Among tropical and subtropical land crops, groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is an important oil seed crop, providing vegetable oil as human food and oil cake meal as animal poultry feed.
