Plant spacing on fruit quality
-
Optimum plant density along with suitable varieties plays a significant role with respect to the growth, yield, and quality in okra. The present experiment was conducted to assess the suitable combinations of different varieties and planting distances and their effects on various quantitative and qualitative attributes of okra at Vegetable Research Farm, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, BHU, Varanasi. Variety Kashi Pragati perform well at spacing (45×45 cm) in respect to total yield as compare to other variety and spacing.

A field experiment was conducted during the year 2017 - 2018 to evaluate the effect of planting density and nutrient management on yield, fruit quality and post harvest characters in banana cv. Ney Poovan under coconut with nine treatments replicated thrice by using factorial randomized block design. Coconut being widely spaced owing to its morphological features provides ample opportunities for cropping in the interspaces. Active root zone of coconut is confined to 25 per cent of the available land area and the remaining area could be profitably exploited for raising subsidiary crops.

An experiment was carried out to study the Effect of plant spacing on fruit quality of Capsicum (Capsicum annuum L) hybrid buffalo under natural ventilated polyhouse during September, 2016 to February, 2017 at Hi-Tech Horticulture, Dr. R.P.C.A.U Pusa, Samastipur, Bihar. There were three levels of spacing 45 cm x 30 cm (4.4 plants/m2 ), 45 cm x 45 cm (2.94 plants/m2 ) and 45 cm x 60 cm (2.22 plants/m2 ). The experiment was laid out in factorial randomized block design with three replications.

The experiment was conducted at Department of Fruit Science, IIHR, Bangalore during the year 2015. The experiment was laid out in a randomized block design with three treatments and replicated seven times. Two years old trees of pomegranate cv. Bhagwa spaced at 5.04 X 4.2 m were selected for studies. The treatment consisting of three viz., T1 (Tissue culture), T2 (Grafted plants) and T3 (Air layered plants). The data collected on growth, yield and quality attributes were subjected to statistical analysis by using software IIHR-DMART AND SPHR, 2014.

The present investigation was carried out with aims to assess the heterosis involving 7 parents namely, Narendra Agrim (P1), Narendra Amrit (P2), Narendra Upkar (P3), NDPK76-1 (P4), NDPK-724 (P5) and NDPK-39-2 (P6) and NDPK-12-10 (P7) of pumpkin and their 21 F1 hybrids produced in diallel mating design excluding reciprocals at MES, Vegetable Science, NDUA.&T, Kumarganj, Faizabad (U.P.) India in Zaid, 2016. The experiments were laid out in RBD with three replications having each experimental unit of single row with spacing of 3.0 m (R×R) × 0.5 m (P×P).

High density planting is a highly efficient and advanced production system of fruit cultivation. High yield and good fruit quality can be achieved with a high density orchard in guava when the orchard has good light distribution throughout the tree canopy and there is a balance between vegetative growth and cropping. To know the effect of high density planting and different mulches on growth and yield of mango (Mangifera indica L.) cv.

Efhami Sisi et al., in Chapter Four, review the effect of management practices on anatomical, physiological and morphological characteristics of trees in agroforestry systems. They specifically assess the impact of initial spacing between trees and treecrop inter-planting on tree growth and wood properties in a tree-alfalfa intercropping system in a temperate region.
