Bitter melon (Momordica charantia L.) is a unique vegetable-fruit possessing several multifarious health benefits. In this study, the plant extraction obtained from grafted bitter gourd onto pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima) and nongrafted bitter gourd cultivated under greenhouse conditions were evaluated for their constituents of volatile compounds. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (SPMEGC-MS) techniques were employed to determine these compounds in the leaves (young, middle, and old-age) and fruits (unripe and ripe) of bitter gourd.

The fruits of Arbutus unedo L., a shrub that grows spontaneously in countries around the Mediterranean basin, are traditionally harvested and used for the production of a distilled spirit. The main objective of this work is to compare the chemical profile of distillates obtained from fermented A. unedo fruits. Fifteen distinct distillates were obtained from ten clones and five seedlings, and they were evaluated, based on their physicochemical characteristics.

This study was designed to reveal the chemical diversity of some Thymus sipyleus subspecies growing wild in Turkey and to compare the volatile compound profiles by using micro(hydro)distillation technique. For this purpose, volatile compounds isolated by microdistillation from nine samples (three plant samples collected from different regions in Antalya) of Thymus sipyleus Boiss. subsp. sipyleus var. sipyleus, T. sipyleus Boiss. subsp. sipyleus var. davisianus Ronniger, and T. sipyleus Boiss. subsp. rosulans (Borbas) Jalas were analyzed by GC and GC-MS systems.

The volatile components of essential oil (EO), SPME, and SPME of solvent extracts (n-hexane, methanol, and water) obtained from fresh Serapias orientalis subsp. orientalis(Soo) were analyzed by GC-FID/MS. EO of Soo gave 11 compounds in the percentage of 99.97%; capronaldehyde (37.01%), 2-(E)-hexenal (23.19%), and n-nonanal (19.05%) were found to be major constituents. SPME GC-FID/MS analyses of fresh plant and solvent extracts of Soo revealed 7, 12, 7, and 4 compounds within the range of 99.7% to 99.9%. Limonene (76.5%, 41.7%, and 61.

Truffles are symbiotic fungi that develop underground in association with plant roots, forming ectomycorrhizae. They are primarily known for the organoleptic qualities of their hypogeous fruiting bodies. Primarily, Tuber magnatum Pico is a greatly appreciated truffle species mainly distributed in Italy and Balkans.

Asarum heterotropides Fr. Schmidt var. mandshuricum (Maxim.) Kitag. is an important medicinal and industrial plant, which is used in the treatment of various diseases. High light induces accumulation of major bioactive ingredients A. heterotropides volatile oil and this is ascribed to upregulation of key genes such as cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase and cytochrome p450719As.

Maize (Zea mays L.) is a major cereal crop, with the United States accounting for over 40% of the worldwide production. Corn leaf aphid [CLA; Rhopalosiphum maidis (Fitch)] is an economically important pest of maize and several other monocot crops. In addition to feeding damage, CLA acts as a vector for viruses that cause devastating diseases in maize.

Aroma is one the most crucial inherent quality attributes of fruit. ‘Ruixue’ apples were selected from a cross between ‘Pink Lady’ and ‘Fuji’, a later ripening yellow new cultivar. However, there is little known about the content and composition of aroma compounds in ‘Ruixue’ apples or the genetic characters of ‘Ruixue’ and its parents.

Plants are known to emit diverse volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which may function as signaling substances in plant communication with other organisms. Thuja occidentalis, which is widely cultivated throughout China, releases aromatic VOCs into the air in winter and early spring.

Tansy plants (Tanacetum vulgare L.) are known for their high intraspecific chemical variation, especially of volatile organic compounds (VOC) from the terpenoid compound group. Tansy chemotypes have been shown to influence plant-aphid interactions, however, to date no information is available on the response of different tansy chemotypes to simultaneous herbivory by more than one insect species.

Most plant viruses rely on vectors for their transmission and spread. One of the outstanding biological questions concerning the vector-pathogen-symbiont multi-trophic interactions is the potential involvement of vector symbionts in the virus transmission process.

Crop residues are the plant parts that are left in the field after harvesting. These residues are usually burnt to clear the field as a field preparation for the next crop. Burning residues is the cheapest and common method adapted by farmers. Burning of residues affects the soil health as well as pollute the environment. Due to burning of residue, microbes are killed and making soil unfertile. Besides macro and micro nutrients which are easily volatilized due to burning of residue in the soil.
