Compare to other documents, our study was for the first time validated the quality criteria of ICP-MS for analyzing nineteen metal levels in wastewater samples. The application of this method was then tested by analyzing nineteen metal levels in twenty-three wastewater samples in the Tham Luong Canal in Ho Chi Minh City. Based on these results, the correlation of the concentration of these metals in wastewater samples was determined.

Currently, Cr(III) and Cr(VI) are analyzed directly in trace level using anion-exchange liquid chromatography inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LC – ICP – MS), which is wellknown as an expensive and complicated method. Therefore, determination of Cr(VI) and Cr(III) by spectrometer or combine with ICP (or AAS) is seemly prefer to choose in almost laboratories although this method presents a higher limit of detection (LOD) and is influenced by salt ions in seawater.

Next generation human therapeutic monoclonal antibodies (t-mAbs) are harder to quantify with the widely used bottom-up tryptic digestion method. Due to their homology with endogenous immunoglobulins, there is a lack of unique and stable ‘signature’ peptides that can be targeted. Middle-up two dimensional liquid chromatography high resolution mass spectrometry (2D-LC-HRMS), targeting the entire light chain, was examined as an alternative.

A new, rapid, and sensitive gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) method was developed for the determination of ezetimibe (EZE) in human plasma. EZE was derivatized prior to GC-MS analysis. Various derivatization techniques such as acetylation, methylation, and silylation were tried. EZE was extracted from plasma with high recovery (94.39%–97.57%) using methyl tertbutyl ether and carbonate buffer (pH 9). Chromatographic conditions were optimized using chemometric methods.

A novel method for the determination of mercury(II) is suggested. The procedure is based on the formation of an ion associate between the bromide complex of Hg(II) and Astrazon Red 6B dye and vortex-assisted liquid–liquid microextraction of the ion associate formed, with subsequent spectrophotometric detection. The variables that affect the procedure, such as pH, the concentration of ligand and dye, the type and volume of extraction solvent, and the rate and time of vortex mixing, were optimized.

An alternative rapid digestion method has been developed for the determination of tungsten (W) in soil samples using fractionation studies and response surface methodology. The digestion method using the Kjeldahl instrument was applied to samples, and soluble tungsten was determined via inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Digestion parameters were selected depending on the results of fractionation studies and optimized using a four-factor and five-level central composite design.

Immediate preconcentration and spectrophotometric methods have been developed for the determination of trace amounts of cupric ion (Cu(II)) and nickel ion (Ni(II)) through a solid phase extraction with XAD-4-N,N’-bis- (salicylidene) cyclohexanediamine (XAD-4-SCHD) resin and a complex color reaction of the ions with 2,6-dimethylmorpholine dithiocarbamate (DMMDTC) in Triton X-100 media. A high preconcentration factor of 125 was achieved.

A new method based on LC-ICP-MS technique has been developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of borax and polyphosphates (phosphate, pyrophosphate, tripolyphosphate) in foods. The analytes were extracted from the samples with 18 mM sulfuric acid solution using ultrasonic vibration extraction technique before being filtered and analyzed by LC-ICP-MS system. The method was validated with calibration curves that have the coefficient of determination (R2 ) higher than 0.995.

In this study, the removal of matrix and isobaric interferences for the quantitative determination of 87 Sr/86 Sr isotopic ratio using ICP-MS was focused. The matrix effect caused by calcium at high concentration in petroleum drill-holes water samples was eliminated by using anion exchanger (BioRad AG1x8) in HNO3-methanol (95%) medium, meanwhile the isobaric effect due to rubidium presented in sample was removed by cation resin Bio-Rad AG50x8.
