The structural analysis also disclosed the similarities and differences between the models (Vtx1-1 and Vtx2). Furthermore, the thermal stability profile of plasmid-mediated nonO157 VTEC were studied. The molecular dynamics simulations of plasmid-mediated non-O157 VTEC structures (Vtx1-1 and Vtx2) illustrated the interactions between amino acids. On the other hand, Vtx1-1 and Vtx2 showed noticeable differences in their relative conformational flexibility and stability at elevated temperature.

A higher number of interferon-related genes were found to be downregulated in the cells infected with DkPen compared to WSN. On the other hand, significant differences in the expression profiles of interferon response genes were observed in the cells expressing viral PA protein. In particular, avian influenza PA protein was found to cause more aggressive changes on the transcript levels. Human and avian influenza A viruses cause a substantial change in interferon response gene expression in HEK293 cells.

Plasmids play an vital role in driving the rapid global spread of antimicrobial resistance and adaptation to changing ambient conditions. It has been suggested that the presence of plasmids can pose tremendous impacts on the host physiology. However, little is known regarding the contributions of carbapenemase-encoding plasmid carriage on the physiology and pathogenicity of hypervirulent K. pneumoniae (hvKP).

The present study was conducted to determine and to compare the microbial population of ATM and computer keyboard within the University of Port Harcourt and also to determine the role of plasmid and resistance in Staphylococcus sp isolated from the high touch areas. A total of 70 swabbed samples was collected and cultured on different media and the organisms were identified using its colonial, morphological biochemical characteristics. The identified bacteria were subjected to antibiotic sensitivity test using the disc diffusion method.

Among other factors, infectious diseases are the real threat to the poultry development. Of the various infectious microorganisms Escherichia coli and Mycoplasma are of prime importance. These microorganisms persist for reasonably long periods in the flocks and there by lead to high economic losses through mortality, loss of weight and production. E. coli cannot readily infect the air sacs unless they are previously invaded by Mycoplasma gallisepticum alone or in combination of either infectious bronchitis or Newcastle disease virus.

Plasmid induces the production of extra-cellular enzymes called β-lactamases, and also, encoded resistance genes which are often located within genetic elements. This study evaluated the plasmid profile of bacterial isolates cultured from urine samples of HIV seropositive pregnant women that attended antenatal clinic of the Ondo State Specialist hospital, Akure. Plasmid analysis of bacterial isolates was also done by alkaline method. The resistance gene (plasmid) was detected in E. coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates used.

Borrelia burgdorferi sensu stricto is the predominant cause of Lyme disease. B. burgdorferi strains carry several linear and circular plasmids and this may be also used as a distinguishing property of the bacteria. The presence of a mixed population of linear and circular plasmids makes separation and characterization of each kind very difficult.
