In this work, gold nanorods (AuNRs) with well-controlled aspect ratios were prepared using a modified seedgrowth method and covered by TiO2 layers through the hydrothermal reaction to improve stability. Integrating TiO2 with plasmonic rod-like gold nanoparticles could enhance their photo activity by the local surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect. AuNRs aspect ratios were controlled by varying the amount of seed solution, reducing agents, surfactant (CTAB), and titanium (IV) but oxide.

This photocatalyst's high degradation efficiency is attributed to the synergistic effect of plasmon-induced visible light-harvesting due to Ag and enhanced adsorption and electronetransport properties due to rGO. It is found that the Ag-induced surface plasmon characteristics of the nanocomposites are sensitive to rGO concentration.

In this paper, we study the generation of plasmon-polaritons in the epsilon-near-zero nanorod polaritonic metamaterial by using nonlocal effective medium approximation (EMT). We demonstrate theoretically that, in the optical ENZ regime, the spatial dispersion qualitatively changes the optical properties of polaritonic metamaterials and leads to the existence of additional transverse-magnetic-polarized waves that are not described by using the MG EMT.

In this paper, we present simulation results for the LSPR characteristics of spherical AuNPs and triangular AuNPs with an average size below 100 nm. The effect of the particles’ shape, size as well as the surrounding medium, and the polarization of incident light, the inter-particle separation distance between NPs were examined.

We calculate excitation spectra of cubic perovskites ATiO3 (A = Ca, Sr, Ba, Pb). The calculations are performed within the time-dependent density functional theory, including local field effects. The theoretical calculations show that the perovskites have a plasmon mode at around 12 eV, which is not observed in experiments.

This thesis has two key results, a study on the effect of carbon in electron-beam deposited platinum nano-wires and a novel temperature sensing glass substrate for marker-free thermometry. The thesis focus on the effect of carbon contamination in plasmonic nano-wires composed mainly of platinum produced from FEBID. Because carbon acts as an insulator in the platinum/carbon composite, we model the effect of carbon impurities by reducing the charge carrier concentration inthe platinumwire.

The results of studies on the resistance control to Septoria tritici with alloplasmic lines of bread winter wheat with 14 cytoplasms. The effect of the Triticum aestivum L nuclear genome on its interactions with the cytoplasms of related species on wheat resistance was found out. Analyzing the obtained resistance evaluation results of the genotypes involved in the pathogen Septoria tritici experiment showed the absence of immune forms under the conditions of the Forest-Steppe of Ukraine.

The result, the photo-catalytic performance of the obtained Ag/STO hybrid photocatalyst was higher than that of the pristine STO nanocubes due to i) the efficient charge separation and transfer of photogenerated electron-holes pairs; ii) the improvement of the light-harvesting efficacy in the visible light. The high photo-catalytic RhB decomposition of the achieved Ag/STO hybrid photo-catalytic was obtained compared to the pure SrTiO3 nanocubes under UV and visible light exposure.

The results revealed that the SERS performance of ZnO NRs incorporating with AgNPs exhibited higher detection of crystal violet (CV) probe molecules at a low concentration of 10−8 M than that of the pristine ZnO NRs. This effect originates from the localized surface plasmonic resonance of AgNPs that could cause a strong electromagnetic field and synergistic effects of Ag, ZnO, and CV molecules in ZnONRs@Ag/CV SERS system.

This study reports for the first time the effect of different sodium halide salts (NaClO4, NaI, and Na2CO3) in the low concentration range (in the range of 10 −7 –1 M) on the swelling behavior of photo-crosslinked, surfaceimmobilized poly(N -isopropyl acrylamide) (PNIPAAm) terpolymer layers. PNIPAAm terpolymer (consisting of N - isopropylacrylamide, methacrylic acid, and 4-methacryloxybenzophenone) was synthesized via free radical polymerization. The PNIPAAm terpolymer layers were prepared on gold substrates via spin coating and crosslinked and surface attached via UV radiation.

This work describes an effective electrodeposition method for generating gold plasmonic electrodes which are further used for detecting glucose in solution without the presence of any enzymes (i.e Gox). Under light irradiation, the electro-catalytic oxidation of glucose on the electrodeposited gold nanoparticle (AuNP) surfaces has been investigated. The wavelength-dependent electrochemical oxidative current intensity implies that the hot carriers transferred from the excited plasmonic AuNPs to the absorbed molecules are responsible for enhancing electro-catalysis performance.

In this paper, we present a review of enhancement and wavelength shift of abnormal upconversion green light emission from erbium ions doped in silica with narrow linewidth in the metallic-coated microsphere cavity. Although the phenomenon of the 537 nm- green light emission is not yet understood, its enhancement of several orders of magnitude seems to be due to the excitation of plasmons. The metallic-coated microsphere cavity has led to the lowest threshold so far observed in microsphere cavity lasers from 0.2 mW to 60 nW.
