The Reduviid predator, Amphibolus venator Klug (Reduviidae: Hemiptera) was reared on larvae of Plodia interpunctella Hb., Tribolium confusum Duv., Trogoderma granarium Everts, Lasioderma serricorni Fab and Rhizopertha dominica F. under optimum laboratory conditions of 27 ± 1 C and 60 ± 5% R.H.

Sixty Bacillus spp. isolates were obtained from different agricultural fields in Kayseri province using selective media. Total DNA was isolated and analyzed by PCR using cry1 general primers. Of the 60 tested isolates, 17 carried the cry1 gene. B. thuringiensis subsp. kurstaki and all other isolates exhibited approximately 19-kb plasmid bands.

The IAL-PID2 cells derived from imaginal wing discs of the last larval instar of Plodia interpunctellawere responsive to 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E). These imaginal cells respond to 20E by proliferative arrest followed by a morphological differentiation. These 20E-induced late responses were inhibited in presence of juvenile hormone (JH II). From these imaginal wing cells, we have cloned a cDNA sequence encoding aP. interpunctellaecdysone receptor-B1 isoform (PIEcR-B1).
