  • The traditional method to evaluate the feasibility of IVR-ERVC strategy is based on the steady state of the molten pool. But in the early stage, the transient behavior of the molten corium may impose a greater threat to the integrity of the reactor pressure vessel.

  • In maize hybrid breeding, complementary pools of parental lines with reshuffled genetic variants are established for superior hybrid performance. To comprehensively decipher the genetics of heterosis, we present a new design of multiple linked F1 populations with 42,840 F1 maize hybrids, generated by crossing a synthetic population of 1428 maternal lines with 30 elite testers from diverse genetic backgrounds and phenotyped for agronomic traits.

  • In this paper, we intend to insight the CNN model regarding its capability on text analysis. Vanilla CNNs do have weaknesses when it comes to the representation and feature extraction. Duplicate filters are inevitable with vanilla CNNs, which reduces the discriminative power of the representations.

  • Cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) and its restoration of fertility (Rf) system is an important mechanism to produce F1 hybrid seeds. Understanding the interaction that controls restoration at a molecular level will benefit plant breeders. The CMS is caused by the interaction between mitochondrial and nuclear genes, with the CMS phenotype failing to produce functional anthers, pollen, or male gametes.

  • Interleukin (IL)-11, a cytokine produced by breast cancer, has been implicated in breast cancer-induced osteolysis (bone destruction) but the mechanism(s) of action remain controversial. Some studies show that IL-11 is able to promote osteoclast formation independent of the receptor activator of NF-κB ligand (RANKL), while others demonstrate IL-11 can induce osteoclast formation by inducing osteoblasts to secrete RANKL.

  • One of the largest sinks of organic carbon on the global scale is the organic matter stored in soils, it contains about 1500 Gt C in the top one meter. Changes in the size and the turnover rate of the soil carbon pools could possibly have an effect on the atmospheric CO2 concentration and the global climate. Stabilization of soil organic C (SOC) is pre-requisite for long-term C sequestration to mitigate climate change. Stabilization of SOC means the decrease in the potential loss of organic C by microbial respiration, erosion or leaching.

  • A field experiment was conducted during the kharif season of 2016 and 2017 in the Research farm of College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Imphal in order to study the effect of different weed and nutrient management practices on the growth and yield of kharif rice. The experiment was laid out in factorial randomized design (FRBD) replicated thrice. The treatments comprised of five levels of weed management practices and three levels of nutrient management practices.

  • This paper describes three building blocks of a technological Knowledge Management (KM) system that provides all relevant and practical means of supporting KM and thus differentiates itself from existing KM tools in goal and approach, as they usually deal with a limited range only. The three blocks described within this paper are: a virtual information pool, which utilizes Enterprise Application Integration (EAI), a single and central user interface providing ubiquitous access, and mechanisms to enrich the available data, essentially based on Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining techniques.

  • The maximum and minimum local coefficients were observed at the azimuthal angles of 0° and 180°, respectively, in saturated water. The locations of the maxima and the minima were dependent on the inclination angle of the tube as well as the degree of subcooling. The major heat transfer mechanisms were considered to be liquid agitation generated by the sliding bubbles and the creation of big size bubbles through bubble coalescence. As a way of quantifying the heat transfer coefficients, an empirical correlation was suggested.

  • To achieve comprehensive understanding, various parameters including particle bed height, particle size, density, shape, gas pressure along with the gas-injection duration, were employed. It is found that due to the different interaction mechanisms between solid particles and the gas bubble injected, three kinds of regimes, termed respectively as the bubble-impulsion dominant regime, the transitional regime and the bed-inertia dominant regime, could be identified.

  • The scrubbing of aerosol and vapor are modeled based on deposition mechanisms and Fick's law of diffusion, respectively. Studies were performed to determine the effect of various key parameters on wet scrubbing. It is observed that for higher vapor diffusion coefficient in gas bubble, the scrubbing efficiency is higher. For aerosols, the cut-off size above which the scrubbing efficiency becomes significant was also determined.

  • Omnichannel marketing is about being present or available across the consumer’s behavioral path: each potential contact point integrated with all others. The concept started in the retail sector where this behavioral path is easily tracked across online, offline and mobile touchpoints (both marketing and transactional). The digital arena will represent the first stage of more brands adopting an omnichannel mindset, as social and mobile data sources are blended with offline brand experiences.

  • A new approach for stimulating long-term credit could be combined with developing the capital market. This concept uses, “on-lending”, (with strict international guidelines followed and best practices of long-term equipment financing implemented by an experienced lender), but introduces the market mechanism of securitizing the loans generated (a pool or portfolio) and the selling them in the capital market. This concept would allow Georgia to develop what is known as a secondary market for loans (financial instruments).

  • The collection and pooling functions in the Hungarian health insurance scheme are separate, but there is no complicated mechanism to distribute resources from the collecting agency (the Tax Office) to the main pooling agency (the NHIFA), which is also the sole payer in the system. The NHIFA does not have much discretion over active contracting, however, because purchasing is based on a contract model and the terms of contracts are determined by the National Assembly.

  • We propose a new design for highly concurrent Internet services, which we call the staged event-driven architecture (SEDA). SEDA is intended to support massive concurrency demands and simplify the construction of well-conditioned services. In SEDA, applications consist of a network of event-driven stages connected by explicit queues. This architecture allows services to be well-conditioned to load, preventing resources from being overcommitted when demand exceeds service capacity.
