Potassium retention

Seashore paspalum (Paspalum vaginatum), a halophytic warm-seasoned perennial grass, is tolerant of many environmental stresses, especially salt stress. To investigate molecular mechanisms underlying salinity tolerance in seashore paspalum, physiological characteristics and global transcription profiles of highly (Supreme) and moderately (Parish) salinity-tolerant cultivars under normal and salt stressed conditions were analyzed.

Custard apple (Annona squamosa L.) is gaining popularity as dryland fruit crop in Maharashtra. But poor set is the limiting factor in the expansion of area under this crop. To circumvent this problem, the investigation was undertaken at Research Farm, Department of Horticulture, College of Agriculture, Dhule by using different growth regulators viz., NAA (15 ppm), GA (50 ppm), CPPU (1 and 2 ppm), Brassinosteroid (1 and 2 ppm), Potassium monohydrogen phosphate (0.5 and 1.0%), Potassium dihydrogen phosphate (0.5 and 1.0 %) and Boric acid (1 and 2 %).

Salinity tolerance is a physiologically multi-faceted trait attributed to multiple mechanisms. Three barley (Hordeum vulgare) varieties contrasting in their salinity tolerance were used to assess the relative contribution of ionic, osmotic and oxidative stress components towards overall salinity stress tolerance in this species, both at the whole-plant and cellular levels.

A field experiment conducted during the Rabi season, 2016-17 at the Instructional Farm, Shaheed Gundadhoor College of Agriculture & Research Station, Kumhrawand, Jagdalpur District- Bastar (Chhattisgarh). The soil of experimental site was sandy loam; it was low in organic carbon (0.44%) and available nitrogen (235.15 kg ha-1 ) and medium in available phosphorus (13.10 kg ha-1 ) and potassium (291.33 kg ha-1 ) and acidic in reaction (6.2 pH). The experiment was laid out in spilt plot design with three crop residue management practices and four varieties of wheat.

The purpose of the present paper is to describe the efficacy of horizontal mattress sutures in managing post-partum uterine prolapse in Malabari goats. Three cases of post-partum uterine prolapse were presented to Veterinary Hospital, Nedumkandam, Idukki, Keralawith the history of everted uterus hanging from the vagina. All of the cases were presented within 10 hours following the parturition. The prolapsed uterus was washed by using normal saline solution followed by washing with 1:1000 potassium permanganate solution.

Field experiment was carried out at mango orchard, Department of Crop Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya, Chitrakoot, Satna (M.P.) India, during 2016-17 and 2017-18 to study the response of different mango cultivars viz. Bombay Green, Dashehari and Langra to various chemicals namely potassium nitrate, potassium di-hydrogen orthophosphate, di-potassium hydrogen orthophosphate.

Results indicate that the salinity tolerance of kabuli CSG 9651, as manifested by less of a decrease in biomass and grain yield, was associated with higher membrane permeability, osmolyte concentration, and potassium content, and lower sodium content, as compared to salt-sensitive desi DCP 92-3.
