The efficacy of different microbial strains for potassium dissolution from insoluble soil mineral (mica) were evaluated in vitro (both plate and broth media assays). Nine microbial strains and 0.1% of chemical source (mica) in three replications were used. Colony and halo diameters were measured after incubating the plates for 72h in incubator.

Interaction between soil microbes and minerals play a major role in environmental cycling processes, which leads to the mobilization of nutrients from soil components into available forms for biological uptake which enhances crop growth and yield. In the present study four (4) potassium solubilizing bacteria (KSB), eight (8) zinc solubilizing bacteria (ZnSB) and two (2) zinc solubilizing fungi (ZnSF) isolated from Rice, Maize, Cotton and Sorghum rhizosphere soil collected from Student and College farm Rajendranagar PJTSAU Hyderabad.

In this present study, different Rhizobial and Pseudomonas strains from different locations were collected and evaluated for their potential PGP activity. Among ten Rhizobial cultures GNR1 recorded the highest P solubilization zone (24.3 mm) conversely, P solubilization is highest in Pseudomonas isolates. Five cultures of Rhizobia and six cultures of Pseudomonas were able to solubilize potassium. The solubilisation zone is ranging from a maximum of 11.6 to a minimum of 8.3 mm.

Microbial isolates were collected from rhizospheric soil of Meerut-Muzaffarnagar district of western Uttar Pradesh to identify the potassium solubilizing efficiency of different soil microbes. A total of thirty-eight potassium solubilizing microbes were identified and isolated on Aleksandrow Agar media. It was found that thirty-five of them were bacterial isolates and three were fungal isolates. They were further characterized based on morphological and biochemical characteristics.

Attachment of soil bacteria to plant cells is supposedly the very early step required in plant–microbe interactions. Attachment also is an initial step for the formation of microbial biofilms on plant roots. For the rhizobia–legume symbiosis, various mechanisms and diverse surface molecules of both partners have been proposed to mediate in this process. A biofilm is an aggregate of microorganisms in which cells are stuck to each other and/or to biotic/abiotic surface.

Soil potassium supplementation relies heavily on the use of chemical fertilizer, which has a considerable negative impact on the environment. There is a growing need to turn back to nature or sustainable agents that promote evergreen agriculture. Among such natural bio-agents, the potassium solubilizing bacteria (KSB), which solubilize fixed forms of potassium (K) and increase growth, yield and nutrient uptake of wheat plant and hence Soil fertility can be restored effectively through adopting concept of integrated soil fertility management (ISFM).

A field experiment was performed in the agriculture field of Departmernt of Horticulture in SHUATS, Allahabad to study the effect of bacterial and fungal biofertilizers on vegetative and yield attributing parameters of Cauliflower (Brassica oleracea botrytis) plant under citrus orchard. Bacterial biofertilizers included phosphorus solubilising microbes (bacteria and fungus) PSB1, PSF1 and potassium solubilising microbes KSB2 and KSF2 which were isolated from the rhizospheric region of vegetable crops. The strains were screened by employing qualitative plating techniques.

Five potassium solubilizing microorganisms were isolated from the arid soil of Jodhpur, India. Among them two fungal isolates RCKF7 followed by RCKF5 showed higher dissolution capacity towards feldspar, resulting in the release of more potassium compared to the others. Based on morphological characters and sequencing of ITS1–5.8S–ITS2 region the strains were identified as Fomitopsis meliae RCKF7 and Aspergillus tubingensis RCKF5.

B15) and lactic acid bacterium (Leuconostoc mesenteroides) with antifungal activities was prepared. It effect on the growth and biomass of different vegetable seedlings raised in nursery protrays was evaluated in a commercial farmer’s nursery. Laboratory experiments were conducted to isolate screen and select the efficient P-solubilizing fungal isolates from maize rhizosphere in the districts of Northern Karnataka. 21 P-solubilizing fungal isolates were obtained from the soil samples and were screened for phosphorus solubilizing ability on Pikovskaya’s agar and broth M-10(1) showed highest phosphorus solubilizing activity. Five efficient isolates were selected and assessed for other functional activities such as zinc and potassium solubilization, phytohormone production (IAA and GA3) and cellulolytic activity.

Indian mustard (Brassica juncea L.) occupies third place among the various oilseed crops due to its considerable economic and nutritional value. Many naturally-occurring rhizosphere bacteria colonize its roots and benefit plants by enhancing the availability of nutrients. In this study, seventy eight bacterial isolates were obtained from the rhizosphere of mustard and screened for beneficial characteristics. Thirty two rhizobacterial isolates produced indole acetic acid ranging from 1.08 to 19.95 μg/ml.

Environment pollution and the food shortage are the biggest problem faced by human beings. As the world population increase food requirement also increases. To fulfil the requirement of food the farmers are dependent on the chemical fertilizers which are harmful for environment. Thus the alternate to these problems are the use of biofertilizers.
