Tuber appearance is highly variable in the Andean cultivated potato germplasm. The diploid backcross mapping population ‘DMDD’ derived from the recently sequenced genome ‘DM’ represents a sample of the allelic variation for tuber shape and eye depth present in the Andean landraces. Here we evaluate the utility of morphological descriptors for tuber shape for identification of genetic loci responsible for the shape and eye depth variation.

S. sclerotiorum isolates were obtained from flower petals of commercial rapeseeds field in Hul, Slovakia (2018) by transferring a single hyphal tip to the plates with potato dextrose agar (PDA). Two sets of 20 isolates were paired in all possible combination and cultivated on PDA amended by bromophenol blue. Mycelial interactions were scored after 7 days.

Common scab caused by Streptomyces scabies (Thaxter) Waksman & Henrici is an important disease worldwide, and can cause significant reduction in the economic value of potato. The management of the disease can be done through conventional methods, biological chemical and cultivation of resistant variety. However, resistance against pathogen is not a permanent solution and fungicidal is not ecofriendly and economical. But new search, induce resistance has taken great attention for plant disease management in near future.

Hence, scheduling timely application of fungicides based on the spore concentrations in plant canopy by obtaining reliable predictive models that allow us to know beforehand the atmosphere spore content in a particular area and the suitable meteorological conditions for occurrence of aerial sporangia, can lead to forecasting the emergence of fungal blight. These allows the utilization of forecasting tools for deliberating the need based and timely application of fungicides and to reduce the cost of cultivation.

Potato is one of the most important and widely cultivated rabi crops of India. India ranks third in area and fourth in total potato production of the world. The increase in potato production in India has been very impressive by about 900 % during the last 50 years. Good productivity become under question due to poor moisture conservation and nutrient management practices.

The experiment was conducted at Mushroom Production unit at SG College of agriculture and research station, Jagdalpur during July 2017-January 2018 under controlled condition. Fresh culture of Agaricus bisporus S-11 was maintained on potato dextrose agar. Compost was prepared by short method of composting and cultivation trials of Agaricus bisporus S11 was carried out in a closed room provided with air conditioner as source of cooling.

Potato is one of the most important and widely cultivated vegetable crops of Assam and ranks fourth in terms of acreage under individual crop in the state. The present study features the agroclimatic-environment of potato zones of Assam developed on the basis of cumulative total frequency of area and productivity of potato. Data have been analysed since 1991-92 to 2015-16 in blocks of five years. Six potato zones were developed and analyzed for Assam. The analysis shows that zone-5 comprising of five districts has an average area and production of 1091.6 ha and 8220.1tonnes, respectively.

The district Kapurthala is a fully diversified in cultivation of crops as the major cropping sequence followed is paddy-wheat, paddy-potato-muskmelon/watermelon/spring maize/ vegetables. The area under two crops namely sunflower and summer moong is uncertain and depends on the selling rate prevalent in the market at the time of harvesting and ease of marketing. This study was based on a survey conducted on 100 farmers in the district.

During the past few years farmers participatory research trials have rapidly gained popularity with due consideration being given to the knowledge, problems and priorities of the farming families. Peas, potato and turnip are important vegetables cultivated by growers of district Kupwara. A series of on - farm trials were laid on pea, potato, turnip and walnut to assess the impact of technologies and test their performance in district Kupwara. The application of rhizobium @3kg/ha. recorded yield of 10.50q/ha followed by rhizobium @2.0kg/ha which recorded an average yield to the tune of 10.

Agriculture is the major livelihood activity of majority of rural population in Uttar Pradesh. Sustained growth in agricultural production and productivity is essential for over all sustainability of the state economy. It is, therefore necessary to analyze the agriculture production pattern and performance of agriculture crops in Uttar Pradesh. This paper deals with analysis of cropping pattern, production pattern and growth rate of agricultural crops in Uttar Pradesh. Cropping pattern was found to be biased towards water intensive crops like rice, wheat and sugarcane.

Mushroom cultivation is an old age practice and recent advancements in the production technology has made them to cultivate under commercial scale. Among various mushrooms cultivated the shiitake mushroom (Lentinula edodes) is very well known for its medicinal values and hence its requirement in large scale production is in need. Current evaluation was done to study the mycelial growth of shiitake on different media derived from agro-residues.

Tomato is native to Central and South America. It is a popular and versatile food ranking third in the world’s vegetable production, next to potato and sweet potato and placing itself in first place among the processing crops. A wide range of insects attack tomato and forms major limiting factor in its successful cultivation and in improvement of yield. In addition to pests Viral diseases are also considered as a important factor which causes severe yield losses at most serious level.

The late blight disease caused by Phytophthora infestans, is a serious threat to potato cultivation worldwide. The varietal resistant is cheapest and environment friendly for management of this disease. A total of twenty two (two sets) advanced potato hybrids along with four control varieties namely Kufri Bahar, Kufri Garima, Kufri Shailja and Kufri Girdhari were evaluated during crop seasons (2012-15) for resistance against late blight.
