The ichthyo-fauna in the Ba Che and Tien Yen rivers, northern Vietnam is highly diverse, with a total of 245 species determined. However, data on the distribution of fish species are not sufficiently provided for the whole area. This study was conducted from 2008 to 2011 at 27 stations from the Ba Che and Tien Yen river basins to determine the distribution of fish species according to different sections of the rivers, water bodies, seasons, and salinity levels.

Aerobic rice is a new way of cultivating rice that requires less water than lowland rice. Direct sown aerobic rice suffers more due to weed menace as the weeds and rice compete for growth factors together. Achieving higher rice grain yields under aerobic conditions requires better weed management practices. Hence, the aerobic rice should be focused primarily on efficient weed management to make aerobic rice cultivation more efficient in terms of returns on farmer investments and use of water resources.

Pulses are important for the nutritional security point of view of the cereal based vegetarian diet of large scale of country. India is the largest producer, consumer and importer of pulses in the world. It has been projected that 32.0 M. tones of total pulse requirement for the burgeoning population of India, which will grow to 1.69 billion by 2050. To attain upto this level an annual growth rate of 2.2% is required. The demand for pulses continues to grow at 2.8% per annum.
