Its fresh tender leaves and stems are consumed as curried vegetable. Commercially, it has high economic value as food, fodder and medicine. For medicinal and cosmetic purpose, its leaf and seed is used to prepare extract and powder. The leaves both fresh and dried are used in meat curries and several vegetable dishes.

  • Coriander is an annual seed spice crop, which belongs to family Apiaceae. It is native of Mediterranean region. The aromatic characters of plants are due to presence of linalool compound in essential oil of seeds. The green leaves of coriander are used in salads and are a good source of vitamin A and vitamin C. Major active constituents of coriander essential oils and fatty oil. The essential oil content of the weight of ripe and a dried fruit of coriander varies between 0.03 and 2.6% and the content of fatty oil varies between 9.9 and 27.7%.

  • Seed spices are most valuable crops having a good export potential to boost national economy. Among all seed spices, fennel has their prime importance in medicinal and nationwide market. This crop is highly variable and rich in molecular variability. Two DNA based molecular marker techniques viz., Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) and inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR), were used to study the molecular diversity among 17 fennel genotypes.

  • The present investigation was carried out during the year 2017-18 in Laboratory of Microbiology, Division of Crop Production, ICAR-National Research Centre for Seed spices Ajmer, Rajasthan. The aim of study was to isolate potential Zn solubilizing plant growth promoting rhizobacteria from rhizosphere soil and plants of cumin. For this investigation 155 soil and plant samples were collected from Ajmer, Nagaur Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jalore districts of Rajasthan. From 155 samples, 153 isolates were collected and out of 153, 23 isolates were Zn solubilizers.
