Patients with rheumatologic preexisting autoimmune disease (PAD) have not been enrolled in clinical trials of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). Therefore, the risks and benefits of ICI therapy in such patients are unclear. Herein, we investigated the safety and efficacy of ICIs in rheumatologic PAD patients through a meta-analysis.

Autoimmune bullous disorders develop due to autoantibodies targeting intercellular adhesion proteins of hemidesmosomes and desmosomes and may be triggered by viral infections and vaccines. Recent reports suggest that the coronavirus disease 2019 vaccination may trigger fares or exacerbations of preexisting autoimmune diseases, including new onset autoimmune bullous disorders.

To investigate the correlation between vertebral Hounsfield unit (HU) values and cage subsidence in patients treated with stand-alone (SA) OLIF. Patients with lower average HU values of the lumbar vertebrae are at a much higher risk of developing cage subsidence after SA OLIF. Measurement of preoperative HU values on preexisting CT scans could be rapid, simple and feasible.

Respiratory tract infections are among the most common infections in India. Multiple etiological agents are involved in the causation of these infections. Swine flu H1N1 is one among the influenza viruses which has great potential to cause epidemics as well as pandemics with great mortality and morbidity. All the suspected cases should be identified at the earliest so that interventions can be taken to prevent the spread of infections and thus contain the outbreaks.

Cogan’s syndrome is a rare disorder characterized by ocular and audiovestibular manifestations in its typical form and caries a wide variety of atypical manifestations. It is considered as an autoimmune disease. We present the first case in the literature of a 67 year old woman with the development of low grade non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) in the mastoid bone in a preexisting history of atypical Cogan’s syndrome. The anatomical development of NHL was to a ‘‘target’’ organ of Cogan’s syndrome, which is the inner ear.

Many factors can influence the dynamic balance that exists between the host and the pathogen (M. tuberculosis), but the host immune response seems to be the most important. This is illustrated by the vulnerability of immune-compromised individuals to develop tuberculosis and by the age-related spectrum of disease witnessed in immune-competent children. This age-related spectrum of disease reflects the ontogeny of the host immune response towards M. tuberculosis.

The Netherlands may be an extreme case in this respect, but strong incentive effects have also been found for other countries. With respect to Disability application behaviour in other countries like the United States, Germany and Sweden, it has been argued that labour supply (and labour demand) considerations may have taken place in the decision to apply for benefits. To quote Bound and Burkhauser (1999): “the prevalence of disability transfer recipients per worker has increased at all working ages over the last quarter of the century...
