The only curative therapy for renal cell carcinoma is the complete removal of malignant tissue. Surgical bleeding during radical nephrectomy may require blood transfusion. Blood transfusion, however, is associated with postoperative morbidity and mortality.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication following non-cardiac surgery with adverse short- and long- term morbidity and mortality. Evidence shows that hypoalbuminemia is associated with increased AKI risk in patients with infectious diseases and cancer and following cardiac surgery and transplant surgery.
