  • Buckling and postbuckling behaviors of porous functionally graded graphene platelets-reinforced composite (porous FG-GPLRC) cylindrical shells with stiffeners subjected to external pressures are presented in this paper. Three distribution types of porosity in the shells are considered. The smeared technique for stiffeners is employed to model the mechanical behaviors of the stiffened shells.

  • At a temperature of 300 K, both Ni and Cu atoms are crystallized into the face-centered cubic (FCC) and the hexagonal close-packed (HCP) phases, respectively. The mechanical characteristics of the sample at 300 K were also analyzed in detail through the determination of elastic modulus, number of atoms, and void distribution during the tensile process.

  • In this work, the commercial Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), ANSYS-Fluent V.14.5 has been used to illustrate the effects of rudder and blade pitch on hydrodynamic performances of a propeller. At first, the characteristic curves of a container ship propeller are computed. Then, effects of rudder on hydrodynamic performances of the propeller in the both cases of the propeller with and without rudder have been investigated.

  • I. Introduction An important aspect of nuclear reactor core analysis involves the determination of the optimal coolant flow distribution and pressure drop across the reactor core. On the one hand, higher coolant flow rates will lead to better heat transfer coefficients and higher Critical Heat Flux (CHF) limits. On the other hand, higher flows rates will also in large pressure drops across the reactor core, hence larger required pumping powers and larger dynamic loads on the core components.

  • Normalization of tumor blood vessels due to inhibition of VEGF signaling. A. Blood vessels in normal tissues exhibit a regular hierarchical branching pattern that delivers blood to tissues in a spatially and temporally efficient manner to meet the metabolic needs of the tissue (top). At the microscopic level, tight junctions are maintained between endothelial cells (EC), which are adherent to a thick and evenly distributed basement membrane (BM). Pericytes form a surrounding layer that provides trophic signals to the EC and helps maintain proper vessel tone.

  • Migrainous neuralgia may be localized to the mouth. Episodes of pain and remission without identifiable cause and absence of relief with local anesthesia are important clues. Trigeminal neuralgia (tic douloureaux) may involve the entire branch or part of the mandibular or maxillary branches of the fifth cranial nerve and produce pain in one or a few teeth. Pain may occur spontaneously or may be triggered by touching the lip or gingiva, brushing the teeth, or chewing. Glossopharyngeal neuralgia produces similar acute neuropathic symptoms in the distribution of the ninth cranial nerve.

  • Find the shear and normal stresses on plane AA cutting through at 30°. Solution: Make cut “AA” so that it just hits the bottom right corner of the element. This gives the freebody shown at right. Now sum forces normal and tangential to side AA. Denote side length AA as “L.”
