  • This specification covers two types of stress-relieved round high-carbon steel wire commonly used in prestressed concrete construction. A supplementary requirement is provided for use where low-relaxation wire and relaxation testing for that product is required by the purchaser. The supplementary requirement applies only when specified in the purchase order.

  • Laboratory-scale experiments were carried out to improve the strength of prestressed steel by combination of the Cr-Ti alloying and heat treatment. A predetermined amount of the scrap and some ferrous alloys (such as FeMn, FeSi, FeCr and FeTi) was melted in the induction furnace to obtain the aimed compositions of the steel ASTM A633 grade C and the modified steel with Cr-Ti alloying.

  • The application of prestressing steel is restricted in highly corrosive environment area due to corrosion of prestressing steel, which leads to reduction in strength and it may cause sudden failure. Carbon textile is considered as an alternate material due to its corrosive resistance property, high tensile strength and perfectly elastic. In this study, an experimental investigation was carried out to study the flexural behavior of prestressed and non-prestressed carbon textile reinforced concrete plates.

  • Concrete has been in use as a primary building material since Roman times. As it is strong in compression but weak in tension, it was used in arches, vaults and walls where it is stressed principally in compression. In the mid-nineteenth century, it was discovered that iron and later steel bars could be embedded in the concrete, effectively giving it tensile strength. This allowed it to be used in beams and slabs, where it worked in bending. Buildings, bridges, retaining walls and many other structures were made in this reinforced concrete.
