  • The present study was undertaken to monitor bovine fluorosis in Chhattisgarh. A total of 528 cattle suspected for fluorosis were examined and the percentage of prevalence of fluorosis was 23.84%. Cattles of age group above 3 years were found to be more affected and females were more affected as compared to males for fluorosis. Maximum concentration of fluoride in water, soil and forage was recorded in Bastar district followed by Dhamtari, Bilaspur and Durg District. Higher concentration of fluoride was recorded in plasma, urine and hair in fluoride intoxicated cattle.

  • The present investigation was undertaken to assess the reaction of the hybrid “Arka Rakshak” towards three major diseases prevalent in the district and thereby find an eco-friendly and simple solution to manage all these devastating diseases for which farmers are spending lots of money and time. The results clearly revealed that 40.4 % higher fruit size, 38.8 % more numbers of fruits per plant and an average of 103.9 % more crop yield was recorded, there was no BLB incidence, the severity of ALB was as low as 10 %, TLCV incidence was negligible and found to be just 1 % in Arka Rakshak.

  • A study was conducted to ascertain the epidemiology of canine microfilariosis in and around Mangalore a coastal region of Karnataka for a period of one year from March-2018 to February-2019. A total of 214 blood samples were collected from dogs suspected for microfilariosis and were screened for microfilaria by modified knott's method. Among 214 samples screened, 95 samples were found positive for microfilaria with an overall prevalence of 44.39 per cent. The species of microfilaria was identified as D. repens based on the morphology and micrometry.

  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the commonly isolated gram negative bacillus from various clinical samples. It is a commensal in healthy individuals but can be opportunistic pathogen especially in hospitalised patients. It is intrinsically resistant to many antibiotics. Hence the present study was undertaken to study the prevalence and antibiotic sensitivity pattern in our hospital. Various clinical samples like pus, sputum, urine, vaginal swab, pleural fluid, ear swabs and tracheal aspirate received in the microbiology laboratory were included in the study.

  • The present study was conducted to know the diversity of tick species infesting domestic and crossbred cattle in 4 districts of Assam along the Indo-Bhutan border for one year. A total of 533 cattle were examined, 266 (49.90%) were found infested either with Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) microplus (23.45%) or Haemaphysalis bispinosa (15.75%) or with both the ticks (10.69%). Crossbred cattle were found having higher tick prevalence (53.50%) compared to the indigenous (49.34%) which was statistically non-significant.
