Huanglongbing (HLB) or Citrus Greening Disease is a widespread and serious threat to the Citrus growing industry worldwide due to its complexity and destructiveness. On an average, the disease can cause 30 to 100 per cent yield loss around the globe depending on its severity. In Assam, an important factor associated with Citrus decline is the wide spread prevalence of Huanglongbing (HLB) in Khasi mandarin (Citrus reticulata). HLB was detected by molecular methods in Khasi mandarin orchards of Assam state in Northeastern India.

The present study was undertaken to screen the prevalence of Duck Plague virus (DPV) antibodies among the duck population of Assam. In this study, a total of 445 sera samples were collected from 10 different districts of Assam during August 2014 to November 2015. The sera samples were tested for presence of antibodies against duck plague virus (DPV) by employing Indirect-ELISA. Indirect ELISA was standardized using purified DPV produced in bulk in primary chicken embryo fibroblast (CEF) cell culture.

Maharashtra have estimated adult HIV prevalence less than one per cent. While all high prevalence states had shown decline in prevalence between 2006 and 2009, rising trends are noted in some new states namely Orissa, Assam, Chandigarh, Kerala, Jharkhand and Meghalaya. It may be noted that though prevalence is declining, in terms of absolute numbers, it may not be so because of large population size. The epidemic in India is higher in urban areas than rural areas and greater among males than females.
