Surgical sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is routinely used to reliably stage axillary lymph nodes in early breast cancer (BC). However, SLNB may be associated with postoperative arm morbidities. For most patients with BC undergoing SLNB, the findings are benign, and the procedure is currently questioned.

An excellent reference for the experienced breast surgeon is now available in Plastic and reconstructive breast surgery: An atlas. It assumes that the reader has a solid foundation in plastic surgery and is familiar with various operative methods. It describes the complete range of breast surgery: augmentation and reduction mammaplasty, anomalies, the treatment of primary breast cancer and breast reconstruction.

Homologous recombination (HR) is the primary pathway for repairing double-strand DNA breaks implicating in the development of cancer. RNAi-based knockdowns of BRCA1 and RAD51 in this pathway have been performed to investigate the resulting transcriptomic profiles.

Prognosis evaluation of advanced breast cancer and therapeutic strategy are mostly based on clinical features of advanced disease and molecular profiling of the primary tumor. Very few studies have evaluated the impact of metastatic subtyping during the initial metastatic event in a prospective study.

Subclonal evolution during primary breast cancer treatment is largely unexplored. We aimed to assess the dynamic changes in subclonal composition of treatment-naïve breast cancers during neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Evolutionary models of breast cancer progression differ on the extent to which metastatic potential is pre-encoded within primary tumors. Although metastatic recurrences often harbor putative driver mutations that are not detected in their antecedent primary tumor using standard sequencing technologies, whether these mutations were acquired before or after dissemination remains unclear.

Pericardial neoplastic involvement is rarely related to primary tumors of the pericardium and is most often caused by spread from other primary sites, such as lung and breast carcinomas, hematological malignancies (lymphoma and leukemia), and melanoma.

Primary breast lymphoma (PBL) is a very rare form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL), defined as a malignant primary lymphoma occurring in the breast in the absence of previously detected lymphoma localizations. Our study aims to retrospectively evaluate the epidemiological, clinical, and imaging findings and therapeutic features of breast lymphomas in patients with primary lymphoma of the breast.

Early identification of axillary lymph node metastasis (ALNM) in breast cancer (BC) is still a clinical difficulty. There is still no good method to replace sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB). The purpose of our study was to develop and validate a nomogram to predict the probability of ALNM preoperatively based on ultrasonography (US) and clinicopathological features of primary tumors.

The incidence of breast cancer (BC) in Thailand has been rising at an alarming rate. The annual incidence of BC in Thailand has doubled over a span of 15 years. A retrospective study was conducted with the primary objective of assessing and comparing survival rates of patients with BC, stratified by subtype of BC.

Bilateral breast cancer (BBC), as well as ovarian cancer, are significantly associated with germline deleterious variants in BRCA1/2, while BRCA1/2 germline deleterious variants carriers can exquisitely benefit from poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors. However, formal genetic testing could not be carried out for all patients due to extensive use of healthcare resources, which in turn results in high medical costs.

Automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) is a useful choice in breast disease diagnosis. The axillary lymph node (ALN) status is crucial for predicting the clinical classifcation and deciding on the treatment of early-stage breast cancer (EBC) and could be the primary indicator of locoregional recurrence. We aimed to establish a prediction model using ABUS features of primary breast cancer to predict ALN status.

Trophoblast cell-surface antigen 2 (TROP2) is related to tumor proliferation enhancement and poor prognosis. An antibody targeting TROP2 was developed to treat metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) which has a limited treatment modality. To characterize the TROP2 expressing tumors in TNBC, we analyzed TROP2 expression in three cohorts; (1) primary tumor without neoadjuvant chemotherapy, (2) primary tumor with neoadjuvant chemotherapy, and (3) metastatic tumor.

Follow-up of curatively treated primary breast cancer patients consists of surveillance and aftercare and is currently mostly the same for all patients. A more personalized approach, based on patients’ individual risk of recurrence and personal needs and preferences, may reduce patient burden and reduce (healthcare) costs.
