The results identified that fly ash could be primarily considered as hazardous waste with 5/14 heavy metal parameters exceed the limit from 1.7 to 9.5 times and needs to be collected and treated properly. This result is also quite similar to the studies that have been done in China, the US or Viet Nam. Thus, SEM/EDX method could be used for analyzing heavy metal components in fly ash samples of solid waste treatment plants.

Solid waste management (SWM) has been an integral part of human society. Currently, solid waste management approaches have been modified into a more practical and effective option to establish sustainability. Practical implementation of SWM has demonstrated that scientific evidence is needed to support decision - making to enhance the sustainability of SWM systems.

The aim of this study is to enhance biogas production from the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) and garden waste (GW) via pretreatment and codigestion. In order to achieve the aims of the study, two objectives have been developed and are outlined below: To investigate an optimum co-digestion mixture of OFMSW with untreated and pretreated GW; to investigate the effectiveness of different pretreatments on the potential for biogas production from GW and to identify the relationship between certain changes in GW characteristics and enhanced yield.

The study findings reveal that the nutritional value of pineapple waste puts it in a better place for the development of high-value products. Culled pineapple, core, and peelings can be used for biogas production through anaerobic digestion. The use of biogas for lighting and cooking could improve the overall living conditions for the pineapple processors.

In this study, the commercial powder activated carbon (PAC) was added to a bench scale conventional activated sludge (CAS) system to enhance phenol removal. The mixed liquor suspended solid (MLSS) concentration of CAS with adding PAC was stable in all stages of operation, while MLSS concentrations in CAS without PAC addition sharply decreased as the Phenol loading reached 1.8 g phenol/L.day.

The results showed that these fungal strains belonged to four different genera, including Aspergillus, Penicillium, Monascus, and Trichoderma. Our observation is in consistent with previous study, which found that Aspergillus, Penicillium are dominant fungi in composting materials due to their able to survive high temperatures and break down variety of bio-solid wastes. Beside of that, the two other genera Trichoderma and Monascus are widely known for their ability to break down ligninrich materials which difficult for biodegradation.

n developing countries, industrialization is the main cause of water pollution because of the various industries which generate wastewater that is needed to be discharged. The availability of fresh clean water is becoming increasingly limited in many areas of the world resulting in scarcity of potable water in many regions around the globe. The membranes have emerged as an efficient compact technology for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment.
