Several studies have been focused on rhizobium mediated stress tolerance in legumes as the ability of symbiotic fixation offer an opportunity to improve nitrogen status of the soil and crop productivity under stress conditions. But to upgrade the existing rhizobial strains with more promising new rhizobial isolates is the demand of hour. So this work aimed to evaluate the responses of different promising rhizobial isolates for physiological traits and to correlate these traits with seed yield under drought condition.

Mungbean is grown principally for its protein content. Seed borne mycoflora affect the germination and vigour of seeds. Thus, due to seed borne diseases, there is a reduction in the production, resulting in failure of fulfilling the demand of mungbean seeds. The associated seed borne mycoflora were found to reduce the germination and thereby seedling vigour index. Fungicides and Trichoderma were found to increase the vigour index by keeping mycoflora under check and plant growth promoting activities of Trichoderma.

A comparative study to evaluate the effect of different time of sowing on productivity and economics of summer mungbean (Vigna radiata L.) production was undertaken under ‘Cluster Frontline Demonstrations on Pulses’ of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. The demonstrations were carried out in 72 different locations at farmers’ fields in district Tarn Taran of Punjab. Summer mungbean variety SML 668 was supplied to all the farmers.

In Rajasthan mungbean is grown over 790185 hectare with the production of 23426 tonnes. Jaipur district has 60624 hectare area under mungbean cultivation and production 9579 tonnes, which is nearly 4.09 per cent of total mungbean production in Rajasthan (Annoymous, 2012-13). The productivity of Jaipur district is 158 kg/ha. There is a wide scope to improve and increase the mungbean production and productivity by enhancing the knowledge and adoption of recommended production technology by farmers.

Growth rates in area, production and productivity of mungbean in Nagaur district of Rajasthan, India
The present investigation was undertaken with a view to study the growth rates in area, production and productivity of mungbean in Nagaur district of Rajasthan. The area under mungbean in the Rajasthan fluctuated during last forty-one years, ranging from as low as 1.71 lakh hectares in 1987-88 to as high as 12.72 lakh hectares in 2011-12.

Green gram (Mungbean) is an important pulse crop of India next to tur and blackgram. It plays an important role in enhancing the income of small and marginal farmers of Southern Karnataka. The production of greengram in district is very less as compared to state and national average. However, the domestic requirements are also higher, due to this greengram is being imported. With this the ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chamarajanagar district conducted 50 frontline demonstrations on greengram covering an area of 20 ha of farmers’ fields in villages viz., K.

Pulses are the main source of quality protein and a rich source of energy, minerals and certain vitamins. The study was conducted in Jaipur district of Rajasthan. Jaipur district comprises of sixteen tehsils, out of which 3 tehsils viz., Dudu, Phulera and Phagi were selected purposely. Two gram panchayats were selected randomly from each tehsils. Two revenue villages were selected from each selected gram panchayat on the basis of random sampling method.

Pulses occupy unique place in Indian diet with supplying of vegetable protein to primarily starchy diet and provide an essential supplement for balance diet. Therefore, it is essential to increase the sustainable productivity with more appropriate management of nutrient utilization of plants so that with same area, we can increase pulses sustainable production.

Mungbean (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek) is a fast-growing warm-season legume, native to the Indian subcontinent; widely cultivated in Southeast Asia. It is an important pulse crop because of its short growth duration, low water requirement, and as a crop suitable for crop rotation and nutritional security being a rich source of protein. Biotic stress produced by viruses especially yellow mosaic virus (YMV) is the main constraint in its production causing substantial yield losses. The detection and diagnosis of viruses is most important to excogitate a management strategy.

The lower productivity of pulses in India is largely due to cultivation of pulses on marginal and sub-marginal lands as main crop or after the harvest of main cereal crop with less or no fertilizer application. Such cultivation practices not only results in lowering of soil fertility and productivity also results in grains low in mineral nutrient elements, consumption of such grains may cause serious health issue in human beings.

Field experiment was conducted during 2011 and 2012 to evaluate the efficacy of chemical insecticides and plant botanicals for the management of Yellow Mosaic Virus of Mungbean transmitted by the vector whitefly (Bemisia tabaci). It was noted that disease incidence could not be escaped however, the percentage of incidence were different from each other over control plot. Among the five plant origin products with different doses tested for spraying, Neem @ 0.2% showed lowest incidence (10.49%) and severity (9.58%). Among three insecticides the significant lowest incidence (8.

The experimental data collected at Anand station (Latitude 22o 35’, Longitude 72o 55’, altitude 45.1 MSL) during the year 2015 and 2016 for various irrigation levels, varieties and spacing (I1- 0.8 IW/CPE ratio, I2- 0.6 IW/CPE ratio, I3- 0.4 IW/CPE ratio, V1- Meha, V2- GM-4, S1- 45 cm row to row spacing S2- 30 cm row to row spacing). Were used to calibrate and validate the model. The quantification of the impact of projected changes in climatic parameter such as atmospheric CO2, temperature and rainfall on mungbean crop production was assessed using validated DSSAT4.

Water deficit and salt stresses are global issues related to survival of agricultural crops and sustainable food production. Drought stress occurs when the available water in soil is reduced and atmospheric condition cause continuous loss of water by transpiration and evaporation. The general complexity of drought is often aggravated under conditions of erratic and unpredictable rainfall and by the occurrence of high temperature, high levels of solar radiation and poor soil characteristics.

Blackgram (Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper) (2n=22) is one of the most highly valuable pulse crop, cultivated in almost all parts of India. It is a good source of easily digestible proteins, carbohydrates and other nutritional factors. Besidesvarious biotic and abiotic constraints, viral diseases mostly yellow mosaic disease is the prime threat for extensive economic losses in areas of production.
