  • Rucaparib is a poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitor approved in Europe as maintenance therapy for recurrent platinum-sensitive (Pt-S) ovarian cancer (OC). The Rucaparib Access Programme (RAP) was designed to provide early access to rucaparib for the above-mentioned indication, as well as for patients with BRCA-mutated Pt-S or platinum-resistant (Pt-R) OC and no therapeutic alternatives.

  • Caprine tuberculosis (TB) is a zoonosis caused by members of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC). Caprine TB control and eradication programmes have traditionally been based on intradermal tuberculin tests and slaughterhouse surveillance. However, this strategy has limitations in terms of sensitivity and specificity.

  • Molecular characterization is helpful in understanding the phylogenetic relationship among various germplasm to reveal the genetic diversity among the used parental genotypes. Among several efficient methods for revealing genetic variability within and among plant populations, one of the most widely applied methods is ISSR marker analysis. ISSR, markers are commonly used because they are quick, simple and environment non-sensitive enabling genetic diversity analysis in several types of plant material like natural populations, population in breeding programmes.

  • Between 2003 and 2010 digital mammography (DM) gradually replaced screen-film mammography (SFM) in the Dutch breast cancer screening programme (BCSP). Previous studies showed increases in detection rate (DR) after the transition to DM. However, national interval cancer rates (ICR) have not yet been reported.

  • An experiment was conducted using seeds of two mungbean verities viz., WGG-42 and LGG-460 treated with various doses/ concentrations of gamma rays (200, 300, 400, 500 and 600 Gy) and ethyl methane sulphonate (0.2%, 0.3%, 0.4%, 0.5% and 0.6%) and sodium azide (1 mM, 2 mM and 3 mM) to find the LD50 dose by using probit analysis in M1 generation. LD50 dose is important to understand the sensitivity of various genotypes to the critical dose of mutagens creating 50 percent mortality.

  • Infection of sterile body fluid can lead to severe morbidity and mortality. Periodic surveillance and monitoring programmers are helpful for framing the antibiotic policy. The present study was undertaken to evaluate aerobic bacteriological profile along with their antibiogram from various sterile fluids over a period of five years. A total of 1708 body fluid samples were processed according to Standard guidelines and analysed in order to assess the changing trends in bacteriological profile and antibiogram.

  • Respiratory tract infections are very common in critically ill patients in hospital settings. Endotracheal aspiration is a simple and easy method to perform especially in ICU patients for obtaining samples from lower respiratory tract. Therefore, this study was carried out to determine the microbiological spectrum and antibiotic susceptibility profile of Endotracheal aspirates among patients admitted in our institute. The present study was conducted on 348 ETT aspirate samples received in the Department of Microbiology, GMC, Jammu for a period of 1 year i.e. April 2017- 2018.

  • Genetic diversity using Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers was assessed in forty eight Indian potato germplasm. Twenty RAPD markers amplified a total of ninety-one different loci that exhibited 82.30 per cent polymorphism among 48 potato germplasm. The PIC value ranged from 0.27 to 0.55. All the loci amplified by the primer which were found to be polymorphic varied in size from 1500bp. The Jaccard’s similarity coefficient was found to vary from 0.22 to 0.87. The maximum genetic similarity (0.87) was found between Kufri Badshah and Kufri Khyati and lowest (0.

  • The Government understands that IPTV will indeed play an important role in the future of television broadcasting. It is Government‘s expectation that local TV will develop in two phases, the first as outlined in this paper through services carried on the DTT platform; the second through IPTV. The inherent limitations of spectrum, including the geographic interleaved spectrum proposed in this framework, mean that not all viewers will be able to receive local TV in the first phase. However, the Government aims to have the best superfast broadband in Europe by 2015.

  • While the intentions of over-involved helicopter parents are generally benevolent, such intervention can negatively impact their student’s chances of admission. Graduate school admissions officers are be- coming increasingly sensitive to how well an applicant has defined his or her career goals and reasons for wanting to attend business school separate from those of their parents, and when parents lead their child through the application process, this lack of introspec- tion often emerges in the applicant’s admissions essays or evaluative interview.

  • Regardless of the process used to reach these decisions in a particular SAI, the considerations that should underlie them remain the same. Thus, whether a process is centralised or decentralised a similar approach is necessary, with a similar consideration of all the relevant factors throughout the SAI. These should be fully recorded and documented, particularly the necessary discussions and decisions on audit risk, materiality and sensitivity, whatever management process is consistently applied.

Current evidence is insufficient for drawing conclusions about which interventions work in a specific setting, and for making recommendations to local and national policy-makers. Therefore, there is an urgent need to evaluate intervention projects and programmes around the world.

  • The diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis can be made by the detection of acid fast bacilli by direct microscopy, using carbol fuchsin stain and/or fluorochrome stain. Microscopy is a rapid method but lacks sufficient sensitivity and does not distinguish between different species of mycobacteria. The sensitivity of microscopy is often not more than 25-40% as compared to culture, but under ideal conditions, it is possible to achieve a rate of 60-70%.

Diagnosis of smear negative pulmonary tuberculosis is made by an algorithm recommended by the National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Programme that uses symptoms, signs and laboratory results. The objective of this study is to determine the sensitivity and specificity of the tuberculosis treatment algorithm used for the diagnosis of sputum smear negative pulmonary tuberculosis.
