This paper introduces and discusses major regulatory trends regarding ownership framework of data among worldwide states, focusing on the pros and cons of regulatory choices. Analyses are made into current property law regime to explore whether specific forms of FinTech assets such as cryptocurrency or customer data could be regarded as property thus establishing its ownership under current Vietnamese property law.

The Judicial Reform Committee [JRC] was organized under the Supreme Court on October 28, 2003, which submitted final recommendations for the revision of the Criminal Procedure Code [CPC] on the last day of 2004. On December 15, 2004, the Presidential Committee on Judicial Reform was established to implement the 2004 recommendations of the JRC, and submitted a bill for the revision of the CPC after a period of heated discussions and debates. On December 21, 2007, the bill passed in the National Assembly. The 2007 revision of the CPC was made as a comprehensive solution for the task.

When citing from documents and archival sources, transcription follows the language of the source: Arabic transcription when from text in Arabic and modern Turkish forms when from Ottoman Turkish. As a result, two spellings may be found in the text for technical terms; both are given in the relevant entries of the index. Terms originally Arabic or Ottoman Turkish but naturalized in English are spelt as in the Oxford English Dictionary, with the exception of effendi, spelt throughout as efendi.

Four decades have passed since the fi rst edition of this textbook. During the 1960s and 1970s, the Supreme Court waged a campaign to reform the criminal justice system through the selective incorporation of Bill of Rights safeguards into the Fourteenth Amendment. Having constitutionalized criminal procedure, the Supreme Court then elaborated a set of constitutionally mandated restraints on police behavior. The “goodness” or “badness” of a legal precept, nevertheless, depends on how well it works in practice. This can only be known through empirical validation.

The past year has been good for doing business in 58 of the 145 Doing Business sample countries. They simplified some aspect of business regulations, strengthened property rights or made it easier for businesses to raise financing. Slovakia was the leading reformer: introducing flexible working hours, easing the hiring of first-time workers, opening a private credit registry, cutting the time to start a business in half and, thanks to a new collateral law, reducing the time to recover debt by three-quarters. Colombia was the runner-up.
