Ebook "Kinesin protocols (Methods in molecular biology, Volume 164)" present a wide range of domain organizations with a motor domain located at different positions in the molecule. Their motility properties are also variable in directionality, velocity, and such other characteristics as bundling activity and processivity. Finally, and most important, they practicipate in a multitude of cellular functions.

SMARCB1, also known as INI1, is a member of a large protein complex involved in chromatin remodeling and thus the regulation of gene expression. It is located on chromosome 22q11.2. SMARCB1 tumors have been found in various locations, including the sinonasal region, gastrointestinal tract, central nervous system (in atypical teratoid and rhabdoid tumors), and perirenal region (in malignant rhabdoid tumors) in both adults and children.

Recent completion of swine genome may simplify the production of swine as a large biomedical model. Here we studied sequence and location of known swine miRNA genes, key regulators of protein-coding genes at the level of RNA, and compared them to human and mouse data to prioritize future molecular studies.

The histidine ammonia-lyse gene (HAL) encodes the histidine ammonia-lyase, which catalyzes the first reaction of histidine catabolism. In our previous genome-wide association study in Chinese Holstein cows to identify genetic variants affecting milk production traits, a SNP (rs41647754) located 357 bp upstream of HAL, was found to be significantly associated with milk yield and milk protein yield.

Majority of 37 human aminoacyl tRNA synthetases have been incriminated in diverse, mostly recessive, genetic diseases. In accordance with this, we uncovered a novel homozygous valyl-tRNA synthetase 1 (VARS1) gene variant, leading to p.T1068M mutation. As in the previously reported VARS1 mutations, the affected individual harboring p.T1068M was experiencing a neurodevelopmental disorder with intractable seizures, psychomotor retardation, and microcephaly.

UBE2O as an atypical ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme possesses an E2-E3 hybrid enzyme activity. It can regulate substrate levels or transcriptional activities by cooperating with other E3 ubiquitin ligases or forming homomeric complexes displaying intrinsic E2 and E3 activities. UBE2O controls the quality of cell proteome including protein degradation, modification, transport and location.

In this study, the adult male B. polychresta as a model to evaluate the exposure risks in soil insects inhabiting three different agricultural locations. The HMs concentration and contamination indices within the soil and beetles from study sites were assessed. Moreover, the enzymatic changes and TPc were evaluated in the beetle tissue (gut, fat body, and testis) in these sites. Furthermore, we check the possible relationship interactions between enzyme activities; against HMs accumulation in the whole body tissue of beetles.

In line with this, when we analyzed the amino acid sequence of E2F1, we found 3 hypothetical consensus PKA phosphorylation sites located at 127-130, 232-235, and 361-364 positions and RYET, RLLS, and RMGS sequences. After showing the binding and phosphorylation of E2F1 by PKA, we converted the codons of Threonine-130, Serine-235, and Serine-364 to Alanine and Glutamic acid codons on the eukaryotic E2F1 expression vector we had previously created.

Our results indicate that, in addition to previously reported L1 elements, various LTR and DNA transposons, as well as members of the classical satellites including HSAT5 and α-satellites (ALR/Alpha), are expressed at higher levels in late senescence. Moreover, we revealed finer links between the expression levels of repeats with the genes located near them and known to be involved in cell cycle and senescence. Noncoding elements reported here provide a new perspective to be explored in further experimental studies.

Post-transcriptional regulation is crucial for the control of eukaryotic gene expression and might contribute to adaptive divergence. The three prime untranslated regions (3’ UTRs), that are located downstream of protein-coding sequences, play important roles in post-transcriptional regulation. These regions contain functional elements that influence the fate of mRNAs and could be exceptionally important in groups such as rapidly evolving cichlid fishes.

Heilongjiang Province located in northeast China is a multi-ethnic region with people who have lived in cold conditions for several generations. Fatty acids are important to people with cold resistance. CPT1A encodes a protein that imports long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria for fatty-acid oxidation. FADS is an essential enzyme for the synthesis of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids.

A-to-I RNA editing is a co−/post-transcriptional modification catalyzed by ADAR enzymes, that deaminates Adenosines (A) into Inosines (I). Most of known editing events are located within inverted ALU repeats, but they also occur in coding sequences and may alter the function of encoded proteins.
