The results of the present investigation indicated that, different pruning treatments and fertilizer levels produced significant effect on growth and yield attributes of guava. The treatment of 45 cm of past season’s growth with application of fertilizer levels of 125% RDF (1000:500:500 g NPK/tree) recorded the significant effect on the growth parameter like plant height, shoot length, shoot diameter and number of leaves per shoot and produced maximum values of all these growth parameters with minimum days of flowering and fruit set. The maximum yield (60.41 kg/tree and 16.79 t/ha.

In this review we have discussed an important hi – tech practices in guava for the enhancement of productivity. The novel techniques in guava practices viz., mulching, meadow orcharding, high density planting, pruning, flower induction, fruiting, fertilization, fertigation, crop regulation, foliar nutrition and crop regulation practices and using salinity tolerant rootstock improves the production, productivity and quality.

The rainy crop is of inferior quality, infested with fruit flies and do not keep well, whereas the winter crop produces a better fruit quality, fetch a premium price and has a long shelf life. Hence rainy season crop is regulated to next winter season by pruning. Pruning at different timings have shown different effects on the growth, flowering and yield parameters of the crop. It‟s essential to standardize the pruning time in order to get crop with higher returns.

An investigation was carried out during (2014-16.) at the garden of the Department of floriculture and landscaping, College of Agriculture, OUAT, Bhubaneswar to study the Effects Of Different Time And Level Of Pruning On The Growth, Flowering And Yield Of Jasminum Sambac (L.) Aiton with sixteen treatment combinations in Factorial Randomised Block Design with three replications. The treatments comprised four timings of pruning viz., 2nd week of September,2nd week of October,2nd week of November,2nd week of December and four levels of pruning viz.,20,40,60,80cm above ground level .

An experiment was conducted during the kharif season of 2018 to find out the impact of sprout management on growth and yield of pointed gourd. Five pruning treatments viz. , retention of one sprout , retention of two sprouts , retention of three sprouts , retention of four sprouts and control(without pruning) were done in a local cv. of pointed gourd of Biswanath Chariali, Assam under field condition. The growth and yield attributing characters were significantly influenced by pruning treatments. Retention of three sprouts resulted maximum vine length (195.47 cm and 384.

Effect of spacing and pruning on flowering characters of guava (Psidium guajava L.) cv. Hisar Safeda
Effect of spacing and pruning on flowering behavior of guava was studied at Horticulture research block, CCS Haryana Agricultural University Hisar in both rainy and winter season during the year 2016-17. Experiment was laid out with nine different spacings i.e. 6×2 m, 6×3 m, 6× 4 m, 6×5 m, 5×2 m, 5× 3 m, 5× 4 m, 5× 5 m and 6×6 m and two pruning levels viz. no pruning and 50% shoot pruning of last season growth. Shortest duration of flowering was found with pruned and widest (6×6 m) spacings.
