The purpose of this study is to evaluate the factors affecting the operational efficiency of publicly listed manufacturing companies on the Vietnamese stock market during the period 2010-2022. With panel data of 1690 observations, the results indicate that the profitability ratio has been influenced by five factors. The most influential factors that positively affecting ROA must include Cashflow (coef = 0.947), while the other factors show statistical significance, but their coefficients suggest a relatively weak impact (debt, size, liquid, leverage).

This study tests the predictive ability of the Tuckman-Chang model by applying it to charitable organizations that survived and did not survive the Great Recession, an economic event that negatively affected the charitable sector. Charitable organizations listed in the 2006 IRS Statistics of Income Exempt Organizations Sample File (SOI), hosted by the National Center for Charitable Statistics (NCCS) Data Archive, were compared to those listed in the 2011 IRS SOI File.

The Nigerian economy in the last two decades up until 2013 has been growing at an average of 6% and yet unemployment was equally growing in the region of 20% within the same period. This paradoxical situation has led to a flurry of studies and postulations aimed at providing explanation and solution to the phenomenon. This study making use of a regression model with annual data from 1980 to 2013, empirically determined the impact of public sector expenditures (CEXP and REXP) together with private sector investment (PINV) on unemployment (UNEMP) in Nigeria.

Investment decisions and regional development are significant for economic development and the welfare of society. The most suitable decision should be made by using multivariable statistical techniques in both public and private sector investments, because various factors may affect such investments.

Because of the fast-evolving nature of technology and the issues and opportunities faced by public-sector managers as they wrestle with the information age, it is perhaps not surprising that this second edition of the Handbook of Public Information Systems contains approximately two thirds new material, including a whole new section on e-government. I wish to thank all those in government service, schools of public administration, and elsewhere who contributed to this volume, either directly or as reviewers.

The Workgroup on the National Health Information Infrastructure (NHII) wishes to thank its colleagues on the National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics (NCVHS) for their many contributions to this report. The report—and indeed, the Workgroup itself—was initiated by the former NCVHS Chair, Don Detmer, at a time when few people championed linkages between the healthcare sector, public health, and the public.

Stop Producing Chaos – a cry from the heart! When the great guru of quality management and process improvement W. Edwards Deming died at the age of 93 at the end of 1993, the last words on his lips must have been ‘Management still doesn’t understand process variation’. Despite all his efforts and those of his followers, including me, we still find managers in manufacturing, sales, marketing, finance, service and public sector organizations all over the world reacting (badly) to information and data.
