In the present investigation, some novel S-(5-aryl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)2-chloroethanethioate (3a–3e) derivatives were synthesized and their impact on optical properties was studied. They have also been characterized by elemental analysis and various spectroscopic methods including FTIR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and UV-Vis techniques. The nonlinear refractive indexes of 3a–3e were also measured in dichloromethane via Z-scan method using a continuous wave diode-pumped laser at 532 nm wavelength. The nonlinear refractive coefficient of compounds was obtained from 1011 m2/W order.

As a result, octave spanning of the SC spectrum was achieved in the wavelength range of near-IR from 1.25 µm to 2.3 µm with 90 fs pulse and energy of 1.5 nJ at a pump wavelength of 1.55 µm. The proposed fibers are fully compatible with all-silica fiber systems, in particular, could be used for all-fiber SC sources and new low-cost all-fiber optical systems.

In this paper, we report a numerical study of the supercoin (SC) generation in solid-core photonic crystal fibers infiltrated with water-ethanol mixtures. A photonic crystal fiber is constructed as borosilicate glass NC21, which consists of 7 rings of air holes infiltrated with water-ethanol mixtures. We also considered numerically the influence of concentration of the ethanol solution on the dispersion of the fundamental mode. SC generation was demonstrated for the fiber long 20 cm with a pump pulse of 200 fs, the coupled energy of 0.

The semiconductor diode laser chips AlGaAs of the matrix structure (linear bars arrays structure), having an output opticalpower of 2W were packaged at the semiconductor laser labrotary - Institute of Materials Science. We have studied some its properties such as: the temperature dependence of laser threshold, output optical power; the transfer heat of laser chip and pump current of laser. The study of spectral structure showed that the operating wavelength area of laser and structure of the longitudinal multimode depend on temperature and pump current.

Its tuning range of laser wavelength is narrower than that first-order distributed feedback dye laser, but lower noise and more stable laser operation is obtained. Single picosecond laser pulses tunable in the range of 543 nmto 596 nm can be produced by using different laser dye solutions. The tuning range of the second-order distributed feedback dye laser is extended to the shorter wavelengths which are close to pumping wavelength.

Air samples for formaldehyde and acetaldehyde were collected on treated silica-gel cartridges (P/N WAT047205, Waters Corp.) using separate pumps. Sampling flow rates were 2.0 L min-1 collected over 15 min to 30 min yielding sample volumes of about 30 L to 60 L. Each cartridge was extracted with 2 mL of acetonitrile. The wavelength shift effect of the Whispering Gallery Mode (WGM) laser with Er3+ /Yb3+ co-doped phosphate glass microsphere has been investigated. The experiment was carried out by half fiber taper coupling technique. The microsphere lasers have been pumped at 980 nm to take full advantage of energy transfer effect from ion Ytterbium to ion Erbium. The WGM’s wavelength shift were analyzed for sphere diameters of 90 µm. The observed lasing lines extends from 1532 nm to 1611 nm.

Although we are well into the fourth decade since the advent of the laser, the number and type of lasers and their wavelength coverage continue to expand. One seeking a photon source is now confronted with an enormous number of possible lasers and laser wavelengths. In addition, various techniques of frequency conversion—harmonic generation, optical parametric oscillation, sum- and difference-frequency mixing, and Raman shifting—can be used to enlarge the spectral coverage.
