The aim of this study was to evaluate the biological activity of some pyridine derivatives (compounds 1 to 15) on perfusion pressure in an isolated rat heart model. Furthermore, theoretical interaction of pyridine derivatives with the M2 muscarinic receptor was determined using acetylcholine, AF-DX 116 and the 3uon protein as theoretical tools in a docking model.

A simple and efficient method for the synthesis of 6-aryl-3-oxo-2,3-dihydropyridazine-4-carbohydrazide derivatives was developed. The synthesis was achieved via one-pot multicomponent reaction of arylglyoxals, dialkylmalonates, and hydrazine hydrate in pyridine at room temperature. This procedure features high regioselectivity, generally good to excellent yields, the use of easily available starting materials, and operational simplicity. This chemistry provides an efficient and promising synthetic strategy for diversity-oriented construction of the 6-arylpyridazinone skeleton.

The deprotonation constants of 5-hydroxy-5,6-di-pyridin-2-yl-4,5-dihydro-2H-[1,2,4] triazine-3-thione (HPT) and the stability constants of its Hg2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Pb2+, and Zn2+ ion complexes were studied in 20% ethanol and water mixed at 25±0.1◦C and ionic strength (I) of 0.1 M supported by NaCl. Four pKa values of HPT were determined: 3.58, 6.30, 9.23, and 9.69. In various pH conditions, the different complex forms were formulated as ML, MHL, MH2 L, MH3 L, MH4L, and MH −2L between Hg2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Pb2+, and Zn2+ ions and HPT.

One-pot syntheses of the value-added heterocyclic compounds 3-methylpyridine and pyridine using a renewable chemical, glycerol, were achieved in acidic medium by thermal conversion reactions. Condensation/cyclization reactions of the thermal degradation products of glycerol were investigated in situ using different ammonia and acidic moiety producing inorganic ammonium salts under pyrolysis or microwave heating conditions.

The synthesis of a novel series of pyridine and bipyridine derivatives is described via one-pot multicomponent reaction of 5-acetylimidazole, malonitrile (or ethylcyanoacetate or diethylmalonate), substituted benzaldehyde (or terephthaldehyde), and ammonium acetate in good yields. The structures of all the new compounds were elucidated on the basis of elemental analysis and spectral data. The antimicrobial activities of the synthesized compounds were screened and the results showed that most of such compounds exhibit considerable activities.

A series of novel 1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-a]pyridine derivatives were synthesized from 2,3-dichloropyridine and hydrazine hydrate as starting materials by multistep reactions under microwave assistance, and their structures were characterized by 1 H NMR, MS, and elemental analysis. This method provides several advantages such as high yields, facile work-up, and environmental friendliness.

Four different Mannich base derivatives containing an aromatic/heteroaromatic propanone structure (C1 (3-(dimethylamino)-1-(thiophen-2-yl)propan-1-one hydrochloride); C2 (3-morpholino-1-(pyridin-3-yl)propan-1-one hydrochloride); C3 (3-(dimethylamino)-1-(1H -indol-3-yl)propan-1-one hydrochloride), C4 (3-(piperidin-1-yl)-1-(pyren-1- yl)propan-1-one hydrochloride)) were earlier synthesized and characterized with 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR, MS, and elemental analysis.

Coumarinyl 1,3,4-oxadiazoles were synthesized from Schiff bases and acetic anhydride. All compounds were characterized by melting points and their structures confirmed by mass and 1H and 13C NMR spectrometry. These novel coumarinyl derivatives were subjected to antibacterial, antifungal, antaflatoxigenic, and antioxidant activity. Their activity varied depending on their structure, where 2-(3-acetyl-5-(((4-methyl-2-oxo-2 H -chromen-7-yl)oxy)methyl)- 2,3-dihydro-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)-1,4-phenylene diacetate showed significant antioxidant and antibacterial activity on B. subtilis.

The synthesis and biological properties of tetra-substituted zinc and cobalt phthalocyanines bearing ethynylpyridine units on the periphery and their quaternized derivatives have been reported. The binding of quaternized ZnPc and CoPc (Q-ZnPc and Q-CoPc) with calf thymus DNA was investigated by UV-Vis spectrophotometric methods and thermodynamics. The mixtures of Q-ZnPc or Q-CoPc and DNA solutions were used to determine the change in the thermal melting temperature of DNA with the thermal denaturation profile.

Pyridine-3/4-thiocarboxamide derivatives were used as starting materials for the synthesis of the target compounds. The pyridine-3/4-thiocarboxamide derivatives were reacted with ethyl 2-chloroacetoacetate in ethanol to give the thiazole derivatives (1, 2). The two ethyl thiazole-carboxylate derivatives (1, 2) thus obtained were treated with sodium hydroxide solution and ethanol and converted to carboxylic acids (3, 4). The carboxylic acid derivatives (3, 4) were reacted with thiosemicarbazide in phosphoroxy trichloride and aminothiadiazole rings (5, 6) were formed.

Cancer is one of the main global health problems. In order to develop novel antitumor agents, we synthesized 3,4-dihydropyrimidine-2(1H)-one (DHPM) and 2,6-diaryl-substituted pyridine derivatives as potential antitumor structures and evaluated their cytotoxic effects against several cancer cell lines. An easy and convenient method is reported for the synthesis of these derivatives, employing cobalt ferrite (CoFe 2 O4 @SiO2 -SO3 H) magnetic nanoparticles under microwave irradiation and solvent-free conditions.

The interactions of K[PtCl3( i PrEug)] with either 2-aminopyridine (NH2Py) or 2-(aminomethyl)pyridine (NH2CH2Py) have been studied for the first time. The structures of obtained complexes, namely trans-[PtCl2( i PrEug)(NH2Py)] (2) and a mixture of [PtCl2(NH2CH2Py)] (3A) and trans-[PtCl2(NH2CH2Py)2] (3B), were determined by means of platinum analysis, EDX, IR, 1H NMR spectroscopy.

The results show the iPrEug coordinates with Pt(II) through ethylenic double bond of the allyl group and C5 of the benzene ring, while the amines only coordinate with Pt(II) via the N heteroatom and occupy cis-position in comparison with the allyl group.

Three new derivatives containing thieno[3,2-b]thiophene, ethyl 5- (anthracen-9-yl)thieno[3,2-b]thiophene-2-carboxylate (1a), ethyl 5-(4-cyanophenyl) thieno[3,2-b]thiophene-2-carboxylate (1b) and 3-(5-(anthracen-9-yl)thieno[3,2-b] thiophen-2-yl)pyridine (2a) were synthesized by arylation reaction in presence of 1.0 mol% of Pd(OAc)2. Their structures were elucidated with NMR, MS and XRay analysis. The selectivity of arylation was at C6 of either ester or pyridine substituted instead of C2 positions.
