In this study, olive oil residue (OR) biomass was pyrolyzed in the presence of bulk MgO (B-MgO), nano-MgO (N-MgO), bulk ZnO (B-ZnO)), and nano-ZnO (N- ZnO) metal oxides at different temperatures (400, 600, and 800 ºC). Significant results were obtained in terms of synthesis gas formation and CO2 reduction. The efficiency distribution of the products obtained as a result of the metal oxide-based pyrolysis process and the effects of metal oxides were examined in detail.

The process of thermal decomposition of sugarcane biomass consists of 4 stages. On that basis, the research conducted the pyrolysis of sugarcane biomass to collect liquid products at different temperature stages and they were analyzed by GC-MS method to determine the chemical composition. Chemical composition of pyrolysis oil through thermal decomposition of sugarcane biomass was elucidated in this paper.

The power and torque were similar at low and medium speeds. However, at high speeds the power dropped with increase in DTPO in the blend. Fuel consumption was very comparable for all the test fuels. Carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbon was higher for the blends compared to diesel but oxides of Nitrogen were lower. Present results indicate that, diesel can be blended with up to 60% DTPO and produce acceptable performance.

This paper investigates the eff ects of Ru/MCM-41 catalysts in the pyrolysis of waste tire using a semi-batch reactor. The pure silica support MCM-41 was synthesised via silatrane route. Prior to evaluating the activity of Ru/MCM-41 catalysts, the infl uences of MCM-41 and catalytic temperature were studied. The results indicated a strong impact of MCM-41 and catalytic temperature on the yield and nature of pyrolysis products. Oil yield fi rst decreased then increased with catalytic temperature.

The wood industry produces large amounts of wood waste. This waste usually contains a number of nonwood materials, such as paints or varnishes. In this study, the pyrolysis characteristics of wood waste containing synthetic, polyurethane, and polyester varnishes were investigated for conversion into renewable liquid fuels.

By 1980, fuel ethanol production had increased from a few million gallons in the 1970s to 175 million gallons per year. During the 1990s, production increased to 1.47 billion gallons, and total production for 2006 is expected to be about 5.0 billion gallons. Annual U.S. plant capacity is now over 4.5 billion gallons, most of it currently in use. Demand is rising partly because a number of States have banned (or soon will ban) methyl tertiary-butyl ether (MTBE), and ethanol is taking over MTBE’s role (Dien et al., April 2002). Ethanol provides a clean octane replacement for MTBE.

A Review of the Chemical and Physical Mechanisms of the Storage Stability of Fast Pyrolysis Bio-Oils
content decreased (Agblevor et al. 1994). The equivalents of chlorine per equivalent of alkali or alkaline earth metals increased from 3.4 to 8.5 during this filtration. This suggests that the residual inorganics may be present as chlorides and that much of the chlorine may be in solution. Chloride ions in solution will have an adverse effect on corrosion of many metals, including stainless steels such as SS304. Compared to coal and many crude oils, biomass has a low sulfur content.
