The paper "Static bending analysis of FGM stiffened plate resting on discontinuous elastic foundation" uses the finite element method to study the static bending response of stiffened FGM plates resting on a discontinuous elastic foundation. The structure is computed using the first-order shear deformation theory coupled with the four-node and two-node quadrilateral elements.

Acetabular fractures with medial displacement of the quadrilateral plate (QLP) are common in the elderly. The presence of QLP fractures greatly increase the surgical difficulty of acetabular fractures. This study aims to evaluate the clinical radiological outcomes of open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) in QLP fractures in elderly patients and to investigate factors potentially affecting the result.

This paper reports the application of consecutive-interpolation procedure into four-node quadrilateral elements for analysis of two-dimensional cracked solids made of functionally graded composite plate. Compared to standard finite element method, the recent developed consecutiveinterpolation has been shown to possess many desirable features, such as higher accuracy and smooth nodal gradients it still satisfies the Kronecker-delta property and keeps the total number of degrees of freedom unchanged.

In this paper the smoothed four-node element with in-plane rotations MISQ24 is combined with a C0 -type higher-order shear deformation theory (C0 -HSDT) to propose an improved linear quadrilateral plate element for static and free vibration analyses of laminated composite plates. This improvement results in two additional degrees of freedom at each node and require no shear correction factors while ensuring the high precision of numerical solutions.

The gross morphological study on the scapula of Indian Wild cat revealed that it was flat and quadrangular bone with two surfaces, four borders and four angles. The scapular spine was well developed with increasing height distally and its termination in the acromian process. The acromian process was divided in to hamate and suprahamate process which were triangular and in the form of quadrilateral plate, respectively. The ratio of supra and infraspinous fossae was approximately 1:1. The subscapular fossa presented four ridges and the nutrient foramen was present near the scapular neck.

In the present paper, a comparison between five different shell finite elements, including the Linear Triangular Element, Linear Quadrilateral Element, Linear Quadrilateral Element based on deformation modes, 8-node Quadrilateral Element, and 9-Node Quadrilateral Element was presented. The shape functions and the element equations related to each element were presented through a detailed mathematical formulation. Additionally, the Jacobian matrix for the second order derivatives was simplified and used to derive each element’s strain-displacement matrix in bending.

A high-order displacement field in quadrilateral element with nine nodes and twelve-degrees-of-freedom per node is developed for bending analysis of thick arbitrary layered composite plates under transverse loads. Results for plate deformations, internal stress-resultants and stresses for selected examples are shown to compare well with the closed-form and other finite element solutions.
