  • Phosphate enters the aquatic system through runoff from pastures, croplands, urban areas, and sewage treatment systems and fosters algal bloom causing eutrophication at higher concentrations in water. Therefore, controlling its concentration through routine water quality monitoring in aquatic ecosystems is essential.

  • In this work, 19 newly introduced and some traditional apricot cultivars were evaluated by 20 phenological and agronomical traits and fruit quality attributes. The results showed a wide variation in phenological data, tree vigour (TCSA), productivity [yield per tree, cumulative yield (CY) and yield efficiency (YE)], and fruit quality attributes such as fruit and stone weight, flesh/stone ratio, fruit dimensions, size, shape index, soluble solids content (SSC), titratable acidity (TA) and ripening index (RI).

  • Investigations were carried out on fifteen cultivars of strawberry for growth, yield and quality characters. The results recorded reveal that maximum plant height (35.30cm) and number of runners (8.82) were in cultivar Catskill, however the average plant spread was found to be highest in Curaltar (34.16 cm) while cultivar Camarosa recorded maximum leaf area (42.86 cm2 ). Longest cultivar duration of bloom (85.30 days) was observed in cultivar Everly and minimum (55.38 days) in cultivar Winter Dawn.

  • Urban lake pollution is one of the serious issues due to suffering of waste discharged from householders. However, there is a gap of knowledge about the diversity of zooplankton species and how metals accumulate in zooplankton in urban ecosystems. We addressed this by determining the rule of blooming macro-zooplankton in the Truc Bach lake and levels of two essential metals: copper (Cu), and zinc (Zn) and of three non-essential metals: arsenic (As), and lead (Pb) in water samples were determined.

  • Vegetables are important constituents of Indian agriculture and nutritional security due to their short duration, high yield, nutritional richness, economic viability and ability to generate on-farm and off-farm employment. Our country is blessed with diverse agroclimates with distinct seasons, making it possible to grow wide array of vegetables. Pruning can encourage faster growth of new shoots, which has the potential to bloom. Training and Pruning technique deserve attention in yield and quality enhancement of vegetable crops.

  • The presence of Blue-green algae (BGA) toxins in surface water sources and recreation is receiving increasing attention around the world as a public health concern. However, potential risks from exposure to these toxins in contaminated health food products that contain BGA have been largely ignored. Toxic BGA produces compound called microcystin. Fine-grained sediment is a natural and essential component of river systems and plays a major role in the hydrological, geo-morphological and ecological functioning of rivers.

  • Water pollution is the contamination of water resources by harmful wastes or toxins. This type of pollution can be dangerous to animals and plant populations in and around lakes, rivers, polluted groundwater areas or oceans, and can pose major problems for humans as well. Although natural phenomena, such as volcanoes and algae blooms, can create drastic changes in water quality, water is typically deemed polluted only when impaired by human contaminants.

  • Enormous increases in agricultural productivity can properly be associated with the use of chemicals. This statement applies equally to crop production through the use offertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides, as to livestock production and the associated use of drugs, steroids, and other growth accelerators. There is, however, a dark side to this picture and it is important to balance the benefits which flow from the use of agricultural chemicals against their environmental impacts, which sometimes are seriously disadvantageous.
