Phenotypic and genotypic correlation coefficient studies were carried out in recombinant inbred line population of Vaibhav x Anaga cross for yield and quality characters. The association studies showed that fruit yield/plant (kg) has positive correlation with plant height (cm), Average fruit weight (g), number of branches per plant, number of fruits per plant, total soluble solids and number of locules/fruit at both genotypic and phenotypic levels.

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum Linn) is one of the most consumed vegetables in the world and is a dietary source of vitamin, minerals, and fiber, which are important for human nutrition and health. It is extensively grown throughout the world. Sodium Azide is a chemical mutagen that has become an important tool to enhance agronomic traits of crop plants. It is being used to produce resistance in various susceptible crops to improve their yield and quality traits against harmful pathogens.

The goal of this investigation was to evaluation of tomato genotypes viz., TODVAR-1, TODVAR-2, TODVAR-3, TODVAR-4, TODVAR-5, TODVAR-6, TODVAR-7, TODVAR-8 and H -86 (C) for their growth, yield and quality under foothills condition of Nagaland state. This experiment was laid out with nine tomato genotypes and three replications. The results showed that there were significant differences in evaluated parameters among cultivars. Among the genotype, TODVAR-8 was found superior genotype and recorded maximum plant height (64.75 cm), number of branches plant-1 (14.22), number of leaves plant-1 (47.

A set of 18 F1 hybrids developed as a result of line x tester mating design involving six lines and three testers were evaluated in randomized block design in three replications for heterosis in four quality traits. Heterosis to the extent of 24.68, 65.19, 25.90 and 76.21 over mid parent and 9.09, 38.70, 17.07 and 68.57 over better parent was recorded for number of locules per fruit, pericarp thickness, total soluble solids and ascorbic acid content, respectively. Standard heterosis over Lakshmi to the extent of -7.46, 24.56, 35.21 and 89.

General and specific combining abilities (GCA and SCA) were estimated using six lines of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) and three testers and their F1 hybrids, bred in line x tester fashion. The present study revealed that none of the parent was best combiner for all the traits indicating differences in genetic variability for different characters among the parents. Line x tester effect was found significant for all the characters under the study except for plant height.

The present experiment was carried out to investigate yield and quality traits in tomato, in order to generate information regarding the extent of genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance at Regional Research Station, Uchani, Karnal, CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, Haryana during autumn seasons of 2016 and 2017 involving 43 genotypes. The analysis of variance indicated significantly higher difference among the treatments for all the traits studied indicating presence of substantial amount of genetic variability among the materials studied.

The experiment was conducted in Department of Horticulture, Agriculture College, Dharwad during the year 2017-18. Fifty crosses were evolved by crossing 10 females (lines) with five males (Testers) in line x tester fashion and were evaluated along with the parents and commercial check in randomized block design. Data was been subjected to line x tester analysis. Analyses of variance were found significant for crosses with respect to yield and quality parameters studied.

Genome Wide Association Studies (GWAS) have been recently used to dissect complex quantitative traits and identify candidate genes affecting phenotype variation of polygenic traits. In order to map loci controlling variation in tomato marketable and nutritional fruit traits, we used a collection of 96 cultivated genotypes, including Italian, Latin American, and other worldwide-spread landraces and varieties.

Among the genotypes used for investigation BCT-8 showed highest plant height (126.20 cm), highest number of primary (6.3) and secondary branches (13.5) and highest yield per plant in (1779.6g). Highest TSS was registered in BCT-27 (8.

Tomato is one of the potential vegetable crops both under protected and open field conditions in mid hills of Himachal Pradesh. The production under protected as well as open conditions has suffered in mid hills of HP due to biotic and abiotic stresses. Among biotic stresses bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum is the most devastating disease under protected as well as open field conditions in mid hills of HP which reduces tomato yield to very low levels.

Tomato is one of the most popular and widely grown vegetables in the world which ranks next to potato. Although tomato is generally grown under irrigated conditions, its cultivation as a rainfed crop has gained importance particularly in semi-arid regions. It has been established that stress due to water deficit is a very important limiting factor at the initial phase of plant growth and establishment. Studies on physiological evaluation of tomato genotypes is limiting in the drought stress condition.
