Ebook "Progress in enantioselective Cu(I)-catalyzed formation of stereogenic centers" is not intended to provide a comprehensive review of all copper-catalysed reactions, but focuses on the most recent scientific advances in copper(I)-catalysed asymmetric synthesis. For this purpose, I have selected seven topics, most of which cover research conducted during the period 2010–2015. Several chapters deal with copper(I)-catalysed addition of organometallics to allylic substrates, β,β-disubstituted Michael acceptors and carbonyl groups.

Optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) depth profiling utilizes an OSL-at-depth signal to extrapolate an exposure age from rock surfaces. Exposure ages are commonly obtained by fitting the forms of luminescence depth profiles, which depend on parameter estimates of light attenuation and defined rates of luminescence bleaching.

High-resolution marine seismic reflection studies on the eastern shelf of the Saros Gulf have revealed the presence of gascharged sediments across a narrow submarine valley incised by the Ganos Fault along the North Anatolian Fault system. Quaternary sediments, accumulated during glacial and interglacial periods through transgressional and progradational units, were controlled by glacio-eustatic sea-level fluctuations and tectonic deformation. The transgressional units made of upward-fining deposits created seals at their tops to form gas accumulation pockets.

Understanding disjunct distribution patterns in the Balkan Peninsula and Anatolia is important in order to reconstruct robust biogeographical hypotheses. This is instrumental in understanding the recolonization patterns of Europe during the Quaternary glaciation/interglaciation periods and the potential role of Anatolia as a refugium. Unfortunately, only a few studies have been conducted to uncover such processes. Here, we used all eight species of the genus Bornmuellera (Brassicaceae) with a scattered distribution in the Balkans and Anatolia to reconstruct its biogeographic history.

Wild soybean (Glycine soja Sieb. & Zucc.), the progenitor of cultivated soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.), is widely distributed in the Sino-Japanese Floristic Region (SJFR). Therefore, it is an excellent model organism to study the effect of Quaternary climatic changes on the distribution and migration of plant taxa in the SJFR.

There are five Quaternary sedimentary sequences in the Red River Delta, Vietnam. The forming of each sequence is related to transgression and regression phases. The sequences, which was formed in transgression period, composed mainly of fine grained size leading to the water bearing capacity is very low and plays a role as aquicludes. Besides, in these fine grain size layers, the contents of arsenic and iron are high, especially in dark clay, silty clay rich in organic material ...

Volume 41 of the Handbook on the Physics and Chemistry of Rare Earths adds four chapters to the series: two focus on nanoscale rare-earth mate- rials, while the other two are concerned with divergent topics—the arrangement of the rare-earth elements in the periodic table, and the higher order rare-earth chalogenide compounds with the elements of the 14th group and also In. The first chapter (248) discusses the various proposals suggested for the location of the rare-earth elements in the periodic table from the time of Mendeleev to the present day.
