This requires a data model that enables to easily represent the entities and support adding, deleting, and updating relations between entities without impacting application availability. Fortunately, graph databases are purposely-built to store highly connected data with nodes representing entities and edges representing relationships between these entities. In this paper, we propose a general graph model that can be used to design graph databases in order to support effectively storing and analyzing IoT data.

We propose methods for estimating the probability that an entity from an entity database is associated with a web search query. Association is modeled using a query entity click graph, blending general query click logs with vertical query click logs. Smoothing techniques are proposed to address the inherent data sparsity in such graphs, including interpolation using a query synonymy model. A large-scale empirical analysis of the smoothing techniques, over a 2-year click graph collected from a commercial search engine, shows significant reductions in modeling error. ...

Microsoft’s ADO.NET Entity Framework, known widely as EF, introduced out-of-thebox Object Relational Mapping to .NET and Visual Studio. Central to Entity Framework was the Entity Data Model, a conceptual model of your application domain that maps back to the schema of your database. This conceptual model describes the core classes in your application. Entity Framework uses this conceptual model while querying from the database, creating objects from that data and then persisting changes back to the database....

CHAPTER 4 ■■■ Querying the EDM You have spent the previous two chapters creating and exploring an Entity Data Model. Chapter 2 discussed the different ways an EDM can be created, and Chapter 3 explored the many facets of the EDM both internally and externally. It is now finally time to write some code. This chapter will discuss how to write queries against the EDM by using the LINQ-to-Entities syntax and the Entity SQL syntax, both provided by the Entity Framework. This chapter will also discuss the difference between query syntax and method syntax and when you might use one over the...

In July 2008 Microsoft released the first version of the ADO.NET Entity Framework as part of the Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 as well as the .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1. At the time, Microsoft LINQ (Language Integrated Query) and LINQ to SQL had been out for a while and were gaining a lot of attention.
