Rabies vaccines in dog

Rabies is a re-emerging and fatal infectious disease in Asia mainly caused by exposure to rabid dogs. In spite of great advances in virology there is yet no cure for rabies. In recent times newer modality of disease prevention like genetic vaccines and other advanced vaccines have been taken into account. Prevention of dog rabies would be the most effective way to stop rabies transmission to humans.

To determine the most effective vaccine against rabies infection in the vaccines who took different types of vaccines for dog bite in rural areas of Tuticorin and urban areas of Bangalore. Rabies Domestic animals, primarily dogs, are the major transmitters of rabies in developing countries (Chap. 188). Several studies have shown that the risk of rabies posed by a dog bite in an endemic area translates into 1–3.6 cases per 1000 travelers per month of stay. Countries where canine rabies is highly endemic include Mexico, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, and Vietnam. The three vaccines available in the United States provide 90% protection.
