The isolated bacterial strains, including the reference strain, were identified using ELISA, pathogenicity test and carbohydrate oxidation. Bacterial wilt is widely distributed in Benin and was found in five of the eight agro-ecological zones (AEZ) of Benin, which correspond to eight of the 12 districts of Benin.

The combined pathogenic effects of Meloidogyne incognita and Ralstonia solanacearum on tomato were greater than independent effects of either. Inoculation of M. incognita, 10 days prior to the inoculation of R. solanacearum led to maximum wilt incidence (100%) followed by combined inoculation of both the pathogens (66.66%). Low wilt incidence was noticed in plants inoculated with bacterium alone and which was on par with inoculation of bacterium10 days before inoculation of nematode.

There exists a lot of controversy regarding the prevalence of strains in the various parts of the world. In India, however, scant information is available about the prevalence of biovars/races and strains in various parts of the country. Understanding local pathogen genetic diversity is the first step in a successful breeding and integrated disease management programme. One of the purposes of the present investigation on six isolates of R.

Bacterial wilt caused by the soil-borne bacterium R. solanacearum race 4 is a lethal disease of several vegetables and spices in the family Solanaceae and Zingiberaceae respectively. In order to understand the phenotypic response of six A. thaliana ecotypes [Landsberg Erecta (Ler) Columbia-0 (Col-0), ABH1, Hc160, Sc1 and SIC] to R. solanacearum isolate, CaRs-Mep, different dilution of bacterial suspension were inoculated on roots of plants.

Bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum, a genetically diverse soil-borne pathogen with a wide host range, is a devastating plant vascular disease (Hayward, 1991). No effective chemical product is available for Ralstonia-induced wilt. Alternative methods such as biological control agents (BCAs) have shown effectiveness.

Bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum (E. F. Smith) is one of the devastating disease with global distribution affecting brinjal. The disease affects solanaceous vegetables in most states of India. Investigation on survey and collection of bacterial wilt (Ralstonia solanacearum) isolates from different agro climatic zones of Karnataka was undertaken. The roving survey was conducted during 2015-16 for assessing the bacterial wilt incidence in different agro climatic zones of Karnataka (India) viz.

The evaluation study was conducted for different potato varieties and local genotypes collected from different parts of Chhattisgarh and screened against bacterial wilt and viral diseases complex. The locally collected genotypes have been further categorized on the basis of their distinct growth, yield, quality and disease and insect pest reactions behaviour. The study was carried-out at Department of Vegetable Science, IGKV, Raipur, Chhattisgarh in consecutive years i.e. 2013-14 to 2018-19.

Two Bacillus spp. viz., B. pumilus-K-1 and B. megaterium-IIHR strains were tested under glasshouse as alone and in combination against M. incognita and R. solanacearum causing wilt complex in tomato. Combined application of B. pumilus-K-1 and B. megaterium-IIHR were found effective for the management of nematode bacterial wilt complex with the 50 per cent wilt incidence as compared to untreated control (100%).

Ralstonia solanacearum isolates collected from wilt affected tomato plants in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu were characterized by morphological, biochemical and race analysis. The isolates produced typical irregular, whitish fluidal single colonies along with pinkish center on 1 % TZC amended CPG agar media. Pathogenicity test revealed the representative isolates could wilt the tomato seedlings, and tobacco leaf infiltration assay confirmed its race 1 nature.

Tomato is one of the potential vegetable crops both under protected and open field conditions in mid hills of Himachal Pradesh. The production under protected as well as open conditions has suffered in mid hills of HP due to biotic and abiotic stresses. Among biotic stresses bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum is the most devastating disease under protected as well as open field conditions in mid hills of HP which reduces tomato yield to very low levels.

Brinjal production is threatened by bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum in the developing world. Evaluation in search of best performing genotypes against bacterial wilt disease and incorporating their genes in commercial cultivars is an effective attempt to the problem. Studies on genetic variability and heritability, along with degree of association between the various characters and direct effects of yield contributing characters on total yield, is of paramount significance in framing an appropriate breeding strategy.

Management of bacterial wilt is very difficult as there are no efficient curative chemicals. Carica papaya leaf extract was evaluated their antimicrobial activity against Ralstonia solanacearum. The zone of inhibitions showed against ten R. solanacearum at range of 5.96mm to 15mm of different solvent extracts like aqueous, ethanol, ethyl acetate, hexane, and chloroform.

Phylogenetic implication in bacterial genomics is important to understanding difficulties such as population history, antimicrobial resistance and transmission dynamics. It has been claimed that partial genome sequences would clarify phylogenetic relationships between isolated organisms, but up to now, no sustaining approach has been proposed to use competently these data. concatenation of sequences of different genes as well as building of consensus trees only consider the few genes that are shared among all organisms.

Resistance to bacterial wilt of brinjal disease incited by Ralstonia solanacearum (Smith) is very common in Bastar plateau of Chhattisgarh state. To identify the resistant sources against bacterial disease of few brinjal varieties and hybrids were screened in artificially inoculated in soil under pot culture. Observations on per cent plant mortality were recorded starting from 25 days after transplanting till 95 days interval of 10 days. The plants showing symptoms were examined using ooze test to confirm the disease.

Bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum (Smith) Yabuuchi is one of the most destructive diseases of tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum), causing accountable losses of about 10-90 per cent. Present investigations on the disease (R. solanacearum) were carried out during 2014-15 to fulfill the objectives defined, at the Department of Plant Pathology, College of Agriculture, VNMKV, Parbhani. A total of 10 organic amendments evaluated (pot culture) as pre- sowing soil applications were found effective against R. solanacearum.
