The impact of Fe2+ (iron)toxicity on genomic instability, DNA methylation status, and Long Terminal Repeat Retrotransposons (LTR RTs) polymorphisms on Zea mays is unknown. We investigated the toxicity of Fe2+ using Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD), Coupled Restriction Enzyme Digestion-Random Amplification (CRED-RA) and Inter Retrotransposon Amplified Polymorphism (IRAP) assays in Zea mays seedlings, respectively.

Genetic diversity among 28 sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) varieties was examined at DNA level by means of random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis. Fifteen primers used produced a total of 132 RAPD fragments. Each primer generated 3 to 26 amplified fragments with an average of 8.8 bands per primer. Based on pair-wise comparisons of RAPD amplification products, Nei and Li’s similarity coefficients were computed to assess the associations among the varieties. Pair-wise similarity indices varied from 0.35 to 0.84.

In this study, RAPD fingerprinting has been carried out for variants selected from orchards growing with micropropagated Robusta banana (Musa spp. ‘AAA’) plants. After isolation of quality DNA and preliminary screening of random primers, fourteen arbitrary (10-mers) primers showing intense unambiguous and reproducible PCR amplification have been selected for study. Among them OPA-19 and OPC-03 showed only monomorphic bands while OPA-02, OPA-09, OPA-13, OPA-14, OPB-6, OPB-15, OPC-01, OPD-10, OPF-04 and OPF-12 primers showed polymorphic bands.

Molecular variation in chilli fruit rot pathogen (Alternata alternata) was analyzed by using six isolates collected from major chilli growing region of Maharashtra. The genomic DNA extracted from each isolate of A. alternata was subjected to polymerase chain reaction using 15 primers of OPA and OPB series off which 10 primers produced 83 scorable bands with size ranging from Among the RAPD primer 83 bands 80 bands were polymorphic and level of polymorphism was 96.38%. Molecular diversity using RAPD marker showed that the Aa2 (Satara) having higher similarity index with Aa4 (Akola).

Genetic diversity using Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers was assessed in forty eight Indian potato germplasm. Twenty RAPD markers amplified a total of ninety-one different loci that exhibited 82.30 per cent polymorphism among 48 potato germplasm. The PIC value ranged from 0.27 to 0.55.
