  • An attempt has been made in this study to examine the economic analysis of production and marketing of rapeseed-mustard in Meerut district of Western Uttar Pradesh State, India. The study was conducted in Sardhana and Sharurpur Khurd blocks in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh State, India. Hundred farmers were selected randomly from ten villages from these blocks to collect the required information on the cost of cultivation, marketing and other aspects for the present study.

  • Alternaria blight caused by Alternaria brassicae (Berk) Sacc. and A. brassicicola (Schw) Wiltshire is one of the most common and destructive disease of rapeseedmustard. The experiments were conducted under field condition to develop effective management strategies for this disease through evaluation of genotypes for resistance and application of fungicide, bio-agents and botanical.

  • The present study is an attempt to estimate the acreage response functions for major crops in Haryana within the framework of co integration and error correction model and to compare the short-run and long-run supply elasticities of major crops. The long-run acreage response to lagged price was positive and significant in the case of rice, rapeseedmustard and sugarcane with elasticity values 0.19, 0.22 and 0.29, respectively. In case of other crops except bajra and gram, very low positive but non-significant price elasticities have been observed.

  • Sunflower is the fourth most important oilseed crop in the world after soybean, Rapeseedmustard and groundnut. It had 20 genera and 400 subspecies. Commercial cultivation of sunflower was started in India during 1972. In India, first ever sunflower hybrid developed by Seetharam (1980), the sunflower hybrids development is based on new sources of cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS). So far single source of cytoplasm PET-1 has been exploited extensively for hybrid (F1) production in sunflower.
