  • Anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) disease and antineutrophil cytoplasm antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis are the main causes of pulmonary-renal syndrome (PRS). The concurrence of both ANCA - myeloperoxidase (MPO) and proteinase 3 (PR3) - and anti-GBM antibodies has been described, although positivity for all three antibodies has rarely been reported. The natural history of triplepositive patients as well as the best therapeutic approach remains unknown.

  • Acute interstitial pneumonia is a rare interstitial lung disease that rapidly progresses to respiratory failure or death. Several studies showed that myofibroblast plays an important role in the evolution of diffuse alveolar damage, which is the typical feature of acute interstitial pneumonia.

  • The polymer coating is simple to apply, diffuses rapidly and non- toxic to the seed during germination. By encasing the seed with thin film of biodegradable polymer, the adherence of seed treatment to the seed is improves, ensures dust free handling, making treated seed both useful and environment friendly.

  • In this article, the considered problem of Cauchy reaction diffusion equation of fractional order is solved by using integral transform of Laplace coupled with decomposition technique due to Adomian scheme. This combination led us to a hybrid method which has been properly used to handle nonlinear and linear problems. The considered problem is used in modeling spatial effects in engineering, biology and ecology. The fractional derivative is considered in Caputo sense. The results are obtained in series form corresponding to the proposed problem of fractional order.

  • The increasing methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections pose a serious threat. Accurate and rapid detection of methicillin resistance is important for ensuring the prompt start of antibiotherapy and control of MRSA in the hospitals. Molecular detection of mecA gene is the gold standard for identification of MRSA isolates. However, many laboratories don’t have the capacity for molecular techniques. Resazurin is a dye used as an oxidation reduction indicator in bacterial cell viability assays.

  • The treatment of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection is challenging because of their high resistance to different antibiotics. The objectives of this study were to detect the prevelance of S. aureus and MRSA carriage in ICU patients in Al Quwayiyah General Hospital and to evaluate the performance of MRSA-Select agar media for rapid screening of MRSA Furthermore, to describe the antibiotic susceptibility patterns of the S. aureus and MRSA isolates. During the period from January to July 2018, a total of 278 patients admitted to the ICUs were screened for MRSA.

  • Acinetobacter baumannii has emerged as an extensively-drug-resistant pathogen implicated in healthcare associated infections (HCAIs) such as ventilator associated pneumonia, urinary tract infection, bacteremia, septicemia, secondary meningitis, wound infection etc. In the recent past carbapenems had been drugs of choice for serious infections with Acinetobacter baumannii, but carbapenem resistant strains are rapidly emerging. This study assesses the prevalence and mechanisms of resistance for Meropenem, Imipenem among Acinetobacter species isolated from a tertiary care center.

  • The stomach contents contain of both acid and proteolytic enzymes. How the stomach digests food without damaging itself remained a topic of investigation for decades. One candidate was gastric urease, which neutralized acid by producing ammonia from urea diffusing from the blood and potentially could protect the stomach. Discovery that gastric urease was not mammalian resulted in a research hiatus until discovery that gastric urease was produce by Helicobacter pylori which caused gastritis, peptic ulcer and gastric cancer.

  • Chloride diffusivity is an important factor affecting the durability of a reinforced concrete structure in the marine environment. Chloride permeability of concrete has been improved greatly by using superplasticising admixture and silica fume. From the mathematical model suggested by Tang Luping and Lars Olof Nilsson, the rapidly chloride diffusivity of concrete specimens could be determined.

  • The diffusion of television ownership was rapid and demo- graphically broad. Contemporaneous polling data show that tele- vision penetration rose from 8% to 82% from 1949 to 1955 among those with high school degrees, and from 4% to 66% among those without. Other demographic groups tend to show a similar pat- tern: television diffusion was rapid among both whites and non- whites, and among both elderly and nonelderly Americans. 7 In households with television, viewership had already surpassed four and a half hours per day by 1950 (Television Bureau of Ad- vertising 2003)....

  • Most important, the need of creating network effects in the development of a cloud platform will keep low the margins for a while and will maximize the speed of diffu- sion of cloud computing between firms at the global level. Therefore, in the long run, we expect a rather competitive situation on the supply side of cloud computing. In front of these rapid evolution, it is crucial to understand the economic impact of the introduction of this general purpose technology. For sure, the diffusion of cloud computing is going to create a solid and pervasive impact on the global econ- omy.

  • When inhaled, carbon monoxide reacts very rapidly with hemoglobin in the blood, preventing uptake and transport of oxygen. Because carbon monoxide readily and firmly attaches to hemoglobin, it stays in the blood for a relatively long time. Thus, during an exposure carbon monoxide concentrations in blood can rise in a matter of minutes, then stay high for hours.

  • We build a three-factor term-structure of interest rates model and use it to price corporate bonds. The first two factors allow the risk-free term structure to shift and tilt. The third factor generates a stochastic credit-risk premium. To implement the model, we apply the Peterson and Stapleton (2002) diffusion approximation methodology. The method approximates a correlated and lagged-dependent lognormal diffusion processes. We then price options on credit-sensitive bonds.

  • None of the poorest regions of the developing world is currently on track to meet the child mortality target. For maternal mortality, evidence indicates that declines have been limited to countries with lower levels of mortality; countries with high maternal mortality are experiencing stagnation or even reversals. Data on coverage of some health interventions are more hopeful.
