  • Production of bamboo plants by using vegetative propagation is not simple to establish a commercial fields however micropropagation techniques has much ability to achieve the bamboo seedling demands. In vitro cultures of Bambusa balcooa were achieved by using nodal segment as an explant. Eight different combinations of plant growth regulators with MS basal medium were used for shoot induction and multiplication.

  • In addition, the effects of explant age and lighting condition on shoot regeneration were also investigated. After 8 weeks of culture, the results showed that shoot regeneration rate (100%) and shoot multiplication coefficient (13.33) of the in vitro leaf-tTCL-4 were higher than those of other treatments and control. The shoot regeneration rate of P. edulis Sims. also varied with the change of explant age. The highest shoot regeneration rate (100%) was obtained from leaf explants of 1.5-month-old shoots after 8 weeks of culture.

  • Suitable medium for rooting was MS + 0.5 mg/L IBA with root shoots at 97.33%, average roots at 5.29 roots/shoot after 4 weeks. On organic substrat, 70% coconut fiber and 30% composted cow manure gave the highest survival rate of 91.33%. The plants grew and developed well during the nursery stage.

  • Present investigation was carried out to determine the optimum level of different plant growth regulators for rapid shoot multiplication, rooting and hardening of micropropagated plantlets of Aloe vera. The experiment was laid out using completely randomized design (CRD) with ten replications during 2018-19. Auxiliary shoot explants were inoculated on MS medium supplemented with various concentrations of cytokinin (BAP 0.5 – 6.0 mg/l) alone and BAP (0.5-6.0 mg/l) with auxin (NAA 0.1 – 0.6) in combination for direct shoot bud proliferation.

  • Wheat is the second most produced staple food crop in world. An efficient method for in vitro micro propagation and genetic transformation of wheat are crucial for both basic and applied research. The present study was initiated with a view to develop a regeneration system in 4 genotypes of wheat cultivars HD2888, HD2329, DBW148, and DBW88 as a prerequisite to transformation. The mature embryos were excised from seeds and cultured on MS medium supplemented with high and low concentrations of cytokinins and auxins respectively.

  • Micropropagation of Indian Blackberry (Syzygium cumini L.) species locally called as Jamun, has always been a challenging task. In India, Jamun tree is an underutilized minor fruit crop species possessing a high medicinal and nutritional value. An efficient protocol for rapid shoot proliferation of Jamun (cv. Rajamun) from nodal segment of locally grown mature trees has been developed. Experiments were conducted at Biotech Centre, Dr. PDKV, Akola during 2016-18. The Lloyd and McCown woody plant medium (WPM) used as a basal media supplemented with growth regulators at varying concentrations.

  • Studies were carried out for rapid micropropagation of two sugarcane genotypes Co-86032 and CoVC-18061. The explants were surface sterilized with 75% alcohol for 30 minutes using cotton. The cultures were initiated by inoculating shoot apical meristem on MS (Murashige and Skoog, 1962) medium containing 1.0 mg/l kinetin. The multiplication response of two sugarcane genotypes was studied under five levels of 6-Benzylaminopurine (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 mg/l) and five levels of kinetin (0, 0.25, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 mg/l) in completely randomized design with 5x5x2 factorial treatment combinations.

  • The present study develops a protocol for rapid in vitro micropropagation of a critically endangered and floriculturally most important epiphytic orchid, Dendrobium primulinum Lindl. through the culture of small shoot tip explants (0.3 to 0.5mm) derived from in vitro grown seedlings. The shoot tip explants cultured on solidified Murashige and Skoog (MS) basal medium and MS medium alone or supplemented with combination of various concentrations of growth regulators; α-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) and 6 benzylaminopurine (BAP), produced shoots and multiple shoots.
