Rationality and validity

This book is committed to the application and dissemination of the ideas of Max Weber. Max Weber Studies seeks an engagement with the fundamental issues in the social and historical sciences: The dilemmas of life-conduct and vocation in the contemporary world, the tracking of rationalization processes and their impact, disenchantment and the return of magic, the 'uniqueness of the West' and multiple modernities, the analysis of the stratification of power and its modalities, and the validity of an interpretative science of social reality.

The article develops the rational fraction polynomial method using combined measurements in the frequency domain to identify the natural frequencies of structures. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated by numerical simulations and experimental tests of steel beam.

This study was conducted in Adilabad, Khammam and Warangal districts of Telangana. Ex post-facto research design was followed in this study, since different variables chosen for the study had already occurred. An effort was made to document the indigenous technology of tribal farmers. For testing the rationality of the ITKs, a questionnaire containing lists of ITKs was prepared and exposed to the scientists for judging their rationality and validity on a three point scale wherein, 3 is rational, 2 undecided and 1 is irrational.

Quantitative structure-activity relationship and molecular docking studies were carried out on a series of quinazolinonyl analogues as anticonvulsant inhibitors. Density Functional Theory (DFT) quantum chemical calculation method was used to find the optimized geometry of the anticonvulsants inhibitors. Four types of molecular descriptors were used to derive a quantitative relation between anticonvulsant activity and structural properties. The relevant molecular descriptors were selected by Genetic Function Algorithm (GFA).

The picture of the market that results from our experiments, surprisingly, confirms both the efficient- market academic view and the traders’ view. But each is valid under different circumstances—in different regimes. In both circumstances, we initiate our traders with heterogeneous beliefs clustered randomly in an interval near homogeneous rational expectations. We find that if our agents adapt their forecasts very slowly to new observations of the market’s behavior, the market converges to a rational-expectations regimes.
